Should I exercise with a head cold?

I have a head cold, but no temperature. I'm wondering whether I should do an easy workout or not. It has hung on for a week. It's not worse, but also not better.

Do an easy workout if it makes you feel better. Don’t do it if it makes you feel worse. I hope you’re over it soon!

I agree, maybe do something light like walking or a walking workout if it’ll help loosen things up. I normally have a bunch of paper towels or tissues handy when I workout with a cold. Everything just starts pouring out!

Hope you feel better soon!

I've had a cold this past week and haven't been working out, and my cold has been fairly mild. I just haven't been sleeping well and have no energy.

I'm in favor of skipping it, especially with a head cold! You can always exercise when you're feeling well enough to do so. Totally your call, though!

I do lighter workouts when I have a cold since a runny nose can make it uncomfortable and unpleasant. I think the only time the medical peeps say it's "not recommended" is with a fever, so as long as you are feeling well enough to workout it would be okay.

Hope you recover soon!

I always found that a mild workout, something like Leslie but even toned down, or a slow walk on the treadmill/outside, helps my sinuses drain and makes it easier to breath.

Now that's if I'm not running any sort of fever or have nothing in my chest. Just my nose/sinuses.

Hope you feel better, Jane!

I play it by ear and try easy standing only. Generally I feel better if I do something like CS or some standing abs work. But I promptly bail if it makes my head throb.

I've always heard that if it's above the chest, then easy workouts (or just walking) are fine. If it's below the chest, then just rest is best. That's what I tend to do if I'm not well. Walking is the best medicine!

If it's moved into the chest (or there's nausea etc.), I find that just moving and walking around the house helps with circulation and helping your body heal.

Hope you feel better soon!

This is what I've always heard too.

I have also heard the above/below the chest advice. If my cold is just nasal, I will usually still do a Leslie or something, basically extremely gentle and just cardio, 30-ish minutes max. If I'm coughing or have a headache, I usually skip.
