Anyone else miss mass market (???) workouts?

I am not sure if that’s the correct way to describe them but I mean the workouts you could find at Target or Walmart like:

Crunch
10 Minute Solution
Prevention
Dance Off the Inches
Self
Shape
Gaiam

or others? I liked picking these up, trying the different workouts, seeing the different sets, being introduced to new instructors, etc. Some were real gems. I recently got a few from Mary’s sale and I really like them for a change from my usual Cathe or Firm or barre.

Are these even made anymore?

Because there is such a plethora of workouts on Youtube, I don't miss DVDs.

I guess I haven’t noticed that they’re missing from Target, etc. Where does the “regular” person buy exercise DVDs, or don’t they anymore? I’m sure none of my friends or family are aware of Collage or Mary (of course, they have no need to be, since they don’t work out).

I miss going to the store and buying new workouts.

I still miss going through exercise dvds at Ross. It was fun to never know what I would find. I do not shop there nearly as often since they stopped selling dvds.

A local record store sells used dvds, but it is really hit or miss.

Yes that list contains some of the best hidden jewels in my collection. No one makes dvds like that any more.

I miss the excitement of CIA video releases. We had some good threads back in the day, anticipation threads and then the review threads. It was really fun.

I think most people use streaming now. The streaming equivalent of Target is YouTube... because you can go there looking for something else entirely and trip over a workout video.

I like Youtube workouts but it's not the same as the DVDs. I do miss going into a store and buying workouts. And also seeing things on the shelves that people have talked about, it was exciting.

Youtube and other platforms are leading to a fragmentation of the workout market, similar to how there are so many choices for watching TV shows now. Everyone watches something different and so not much is a shared experience with others. Of course you can get together with fans of the same show but it's not the same as everyone watching the same set of things at the same time. Trade off for more variety I guess.
