Jazzercise: After 45 years, it’s still here, and it’s still evolving

I didn't see this posted, but it's an interesting article. I actually recently bought my first ever Jazzercise DVD: Burlesque. I felt silly, but it also had fun. I can't believe Shanna is 45 and her mom is 70! They both look fantastic.

Thanks, I enjoyed that article. I've never taken a Jazzercise class but I bet it's fun!

I agree to all above! Burlesque is my only Jazzercise, it is fun. I remember about 25 years ago, a CCU nurse I worked with, who wore a button that said High on Stress, much older than me, (ha, she was about 50, my age now) would excitedly announce she was off to Jazzercise after work. I wonder if Gail is still at it?

Interesting reading how they've evolved through the years and how they are trying to improve their dated "grandma" image by beefing up their offerings, but imo unless they somehow change their brand name it's always going to be thought of as... jazzercise. (Jazz hands anyone?)

I wish I had known they were in D.C last month. I work near that hotel - I would have certainly attended.

This thread got me thinking--are any of Judi's vintage workouts available on DVD? Alas, it seems not. Wish they'd be reissued as compilations! I prefer them to the newer workouts with Shana and crew.

The "original" Jazzercise workouts are still available on VHS at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_1?...qid=1405035453

I remember taking a Jazzercise class in a church basement back in the mid-80s with my sister!! There is a Jazzercise studio in the next town from me that seems fairly popular. It is hard to believe how long it's been around. Thanks for posting the article.

I did Jazzercise in the 80's for several years at a local park's rec building. It was low impact and a lot of fun.

I disliked the Jazzercise Burlesque workout. Bad cueing, fast moves. It wasn't fun. I traded it away ASAP.

I agree. The name itself has a dated image.

Oh, no, Alison! Heaven forbid! "Jazzercise" is perfect--just the sound of it makes me want to exercise!
