Siri, Alexa, etc.

I have managed to avoid Siri and Alexa. I don't want to be friends with them and share my deepest secrets.

Yet, some folks love using these "electronic assistants."

What do you think of them?

I was stuck in traffic a few years ago and was bored, so I turned Siri on and asked a lot of questions. It was amusing and helped passed the time. Otherwise, no thanks. I don't want my devices listening to everything I say.

I don't use them. I stay far away from that stuff as it is recorded and stored. I'm not sure if you can opt out of the archival settings. I can see the benefit of it for certain populations that the tech is available. It's just not for me.

Nope. Don't use them....well, the only time I have is when watching TV and asking Siri to find a certain channel!

My boyfriend has an Alexa. When I go to his house, I set the device in the washing machine in the basement. :-P

Voted never used, but I do think I used "Cortana" once or twice on my laptop while doing a search for something,

I voted "never used" but one of the responses reminded me. When I first got a smart phone, I showed my kids some of those funny responses from Siri ("What's zero divided by zero?" is classic.)

Have used Siri very rarely, when wanting info while driving, and a few times when someone told me about a funny answer. Often my computer time is quiet time, i.e. DH is sleeping or watching TV, so I don't want to be chatting back & forth. I also find it disconcerting to have "her" listening to my conversations.

I wasn't allowed to vote in the poll. But I've never used Siri or Alexa. Alexa kind of intrigues me and kind of scares me from a secuirty standpoint.

My setup is too primitive to allow for those, but I wouldn't choose them anyhow.
