She looks amazing! An inspiration indeed. Clearly she has good genes, but genes alone won't keep you looking like that @ 72!

P.S. Thanks for the replies.

All the diverse answers in this thread have been interesting to read and really help to put things into perspective.

By claiming to "stay fit" they probably more accurately mean "stay THIN"! When I was in my twenties, chasing after my two girls and being a single mom while DH was at sea kept me thin...then again I didn't sit around much back then either...had a yard and two vehicles to keep up...but I also had a good fitness base from my experiences at the Y and in the Navy and all my life I'd had to walk everywhere

Me too. No specifics goals here, just enjoy the workout de jour. Everything else that comes with it is a bonus.

I started to exercise because I wanted to lose weight. As I lost weight and began to notice the changes in my body, I became excited and that's when my enjoyment for it took off. Before that I didn't love or hate exercising. Of course I want to maintain my weight as my metabolism is slow, but I'll always keep it up because it's good for my health. It's more important than ever that we keep our bodies as strong as possible as we get older. I'm much wiser now!

+1

I want to be lean & healthy for as long as God allows me on this Earth plus look good too.

There is nothing wrong with working out solely for vanity reasons, the way I look it is as long as your doing something who cares what the reasons are. :-)

All of the above as well. I really enjoy my alone time first thing in the morning - just me and the video. Also - as I am aging (58) I know that I can't stop the wrinkles and the grey thinning hair but I can stay fit and look not too bad from the neck down. If that's vanity, so be it...oh yeah....and it really helps my cholesterol levels... I guess there are a million reasons to exercise....D
