I adored Nanci Griffith -- she was one of my top favorite female vocalists. She was only 68. I'm heart-broken.

Una Stubbs who played Mrs. Hudson on the PBS Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman died at the age of 84 after having unspecified health problems for a few months. She made a great Mrs. Hudson and really seemed to enjoy taking the part to a new place.

Oh, she was so cute in that role! And as an aside: I think that show had about the best theme music ever.

Country music singer Tom T. Hall has passed away at the age of 85. He had a ton of hits. So sad. RIP

Don Everly has passed away..damn...I have a story to share later...

We were very fortunate to see the Everly Brothers at the Count Basie Theater years ago. Their harmonies were exquisite. Of course, Frank wanted to meet them and get their autographs. That did not happen, but he did convince someone to take his albums backstage to get signed.
He did meet Don's son Edan, who played guitar for The Golden Boys tour (Frankie Avalon, etc) when he took his mom. Edan was very kind and happy to chat. Edan was trying to hunt down a particular tv clip of his father and Uncle Phil (who he spoke about lovingly, but he did not speak as lovingly about his father). Of course Frank had it, found it and sent it to Edan.
