Houston Tumlin has died. He was in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and played the son of Will Ferrell's character. He was 28.

I just got all four of Lonesome Dove novel series for my father. The first--Lonesome Dove--is his favorite novel of all time. I'm hoping he likes the other ones, too.

It's a pity McMurtry is gone, even though he had a productive writing career. He was five years younger than my Dad.

Wow, 104! I think my favorite of all of her books was "Socks" about the cat displaced by the new baby. Thank you for sharing your stories with us Mrs. Cleary!
