Aside from the 2 years I went to Crossfit and was highly successful, my more effecting rotation is the whatever one I use to do.

Kind of had 2-3 weight training 1-2 cardio and a whatever I wanted to plug in for those is what I did.

I don't follow rotations often but try to loosely follow this:

Day 1- Cardio
Day 2- Cardio w/ light weights
Day 3- Heavy weights & stretch
Day 4- rest or restorative workout

rinse & repeat

Sometimes I'll do a 30 min cardio/30 minute upper body weight work or 30 minute cardio/30 minute lower body weight work the next day.

And sometimes I don't feel like traditional cardio or weight work and do a pilates or barre workout instead.

Also, I like to do Tracie Long workouts which work on functional fitness and balance. But I work on balance daily as I walk my two dogs who often get their leashes wrapped around my legs as they are heading in opposite directions. They literally keep me on my toes!

There are times when I like to follow a specific rotation on any given month with a specific instructor, but after 30 days I'm usually ready to change things up.

I've lately been giving my month a focus on a specific workout type, which gives me more freedom to choose a DVD without going into analysis paralysis.

I'm finding this year one in which I'm enjoying (and needing) more workouts having stretch, balance, and mobility components. I've been cycling through numerous Tai Chi and Qi Gong workouts the last few months, and for this month I'm concentrating on yoga.

I'll add cardio or strength to my week, but those will be my wild card days.

Last month my workouts had a lower body focus, so I selected Pilates, floorwork, or weights. With that I walked with Jenny Ford, too.

I like the idea of doing cardio and strength on certain days of the week, in theory. I often don't sleep especially well so need to have a couple of days designed for gentler workouts.

I really like your "dull, boring" rotation!!

I started doing Cathe's Mobility Basics workout once a week and already seeing improvements! If you don't have this one, it's a good one to add to your collection! I had to modify a few things per usual but I'm getting so good at that!

Thanks, Tugger, I'll check that out.

Oh, I forgot about P90X3 Dynamix. It has mobility and flexibility moves:

In my case the most effective rotation is one in which I don't get injured or reinjure my numerous injuries or exhaust myself from doing too much. I need a sign that says "It's been ___ days since I've injured myself"!

Leslie/Pahla/Jessica/Jenny Ford walks mixed with daily CS is finally something my poor body can handle. I thought I'd miss higher impact and weights but honestly I don't at all. I just miss when my body was better equipped to recover from workouts, but those days are in the rearview mirror now...

Lori - those are staples for me, too. I also like Ellen Barrett. I throw in some Pilates (Jessica Valent, Trifecta Pilates) and yoga (Yoga w/ Kassandra, Man Flow Yoga - a new find for me) also. But I don't have the desire to do super heavy or high intense stuff these days, either. Outdoor walks are nice, too!

Agreed, but I gave up Ellen when I tore my meniscus, too much turning in her stuff, although I miss her personality. I also have found that yoga irritates my knee and so does some pilates moves oddly. The only thing that helps it is CS/Ess. I attempted to do an old Firm workout last week and quickly realized that any squat or lunge reaggravates my knee.

I also find that I can only do some of Jessica's walks now since a lot of her movements are different than Leslie's. (And I really like Leslie's stuff better than Jessica's walks, but I really can't figure out why. I adore Jessica as a person and I really like her fusion stuff, but just not her walks or weight stuff. Odd.)

I also have absolutely no interest in even picking up weights or doing anything that makes my body hate me anymore. I like Leslie's band workouts a lot and I do a lot of CS strengthening workouts. I find any weight workout now injures either my wonky shoulder, my hip that is occasionally sore, or my knee with the torn meniscus. It's just not worth it these days!

Ya know, this reminds me of how much I loved alternating Gilad with Namaste Yoga. I'm gonna do that again while some stuff settles down in my life. Thanks!!
