Hi SB,

I am actually doing worse. The persistent cough has turned into a non-stop cough. I've broken out in a red rash all over my arms (that tends to happen when I talk OTC meds like Mucinex for days). I was up coughing almost non-stop overnight, and that was after coughing non-stop for about 4 hours last night. I also still have the chills occasionally and extreme bouts of dizziness and fatigue.

I'm disappointed that I didn't hear back from the school nurse about your Tamiflu suggestion. So far she has just told me to keep doing what I'm doing - get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids and she told me not to come back to campus before Monday. Yesterday, one of my coworkers went to see her for an eye infection and told her that I was still pretty sick. She told her to go get some Pedialyte and tell me to drink it today and tomorrow. So, my coworker/friend brought some supplies over and left them on the porch. I am drinking a lot but not eating much; I just don't have an appetite.

It's a pretty tough situation because my students' final project presentations for one class are Monday afternoon, and we've had some dept stuff that needed my attention (I was able to speak with colleagues by phone). I have rested a lot, which means that I haven't been able to answer everyone.

I wrote to the school nurse this morning and told her that I fear if I don't do something about this non-stop coughing today then I'm going to be stuck in this state all weekend and I'm already just about at the end of my rope. I have an appt for this morning at 11:00. I hope I can last till then without going crazy.

Thanks, again, for listening to me kvetch. Good job with your walk! Hope you have a good day.

Good morning!!

Yesterday:

36 minute outdoor walk

I had meant to add on but never got around to it. I was planning to walk today but I'm visiting my sister instead. It's been a few weeks what with the holiday and then my being sick.

CAMBET, oh I'm so sorry to hear how sick you are. Maybe you should call a medi clinic and get checked for bronchitis or pneumonia? I think the sooner you get to the bottom of this the better. Well in the meantime I hope the nurse can give you some helpful guidance.

Please take care of yourself. Sending healing vibes and {{hugs}}

Good morning!!

Yesterday:

Pahla B Slimming Strength workout

This was Pahla's last workout of 2022.
It was a good one. All weight work, no repeats. I have a little mild DOMS this morning too. They are calling for snow today () so I may just do something indoors.

CAMBET, I hope you are doing a little better. Sending more healing vibes and {{hugs}}

Take care.

Hi SB,

When I finally saw the school nurse, she told me that she thought that I had pneumonia and sent me for a chest X-ray. it confirmed that I, in fact, have double pneumonia. To the nurse's credit (insert eye roll) at that point she swung into action and gave me two shots (one antibiotic and one steroid) and set me an a aggressive course of treatment.

She kept saying that after 3 days of a consistently high fever I should have done more to bring the severity of my situation to her attention. I kept saying that my temp wasn't 103 all day, every day, but that when the medicine would wear off it would spike to 101 or 103 until the next dose of medicine kicked in, and that I had told her that, and that I didn't think that the medicine was strong enough, in more than one email. It was an awkward conversation with each of us kind of pointing out that the other should have done better. I never point blank asked her why she didn't answer my last 2 emails (or if she even read them). She said that if certain things were not better by Monday, she'd have to send me to the hospital, so we made a follow-up appt for Monday morning. She told me to make sure to email her on Sunday to let her know how I was responding to the meds and how my temp and oxygen levels were doing.

The weekend was challenging and I monitored my numerical indicators (temp and oxygen levels, which were right on the border of acceptable range) like a hawk. I've never had pneumonia and this was scary. My 2 Italy-crew friends suggested that maybe I should seek a second opinion. So I decided what that I would follow the treatment plan, and if I wasn't better by Sunday, I'd consider going to the hospital. I improved a lot over the weekend.

Yesterday, things checked out well, in that I'm making good progress and my lungs sound better, so I'm not going to need to be hospitalized (thank God for that ). I didn't email the nurse on Sunday, which she got on my case about yesterday, but I just let it drop (though it was another insert eye roll moment for me. I will say that she genuinely hugged me out of delight that I was doing better, so I know that she was genuinely concerned). I have a "no work" order until tomorrow. I asked my friend who was our former chair if she would fill in for me as chair for a few days and she agreed, so I let me dept know. I've been getting lots of rest and I feel better.

Thanks for your healing vibes and hugs! I sure needed them! Great job with your walk the other day, and with the Pahla B workout. I imagine that you were probably glad to have a little DOMS the next day. I saw on the news that they were calling for white-out conditions in different parts of the country. I hope you all didn't get too much snow. Hope you have a great day!

Oh CAMBET, I'm so sorry to hear how sick you've been.
It definitely sounded serious to me when you were explaining your symptoms and how you felt. I'm glad the nurse was able to give you some relief and you're starting to do better but I think I would still go to see a dr or clinic for a second opinion.
This is no joke. Are you on a course of antibiotics or just the one shot? And I'm sure you should continue to stay home and rest as much as possible. I'm still sending those healing vibes and {{hugs}}.

We fortunately only got a couple of inches of snow that didn't cause too much trouble but still. Yuck. I'm not a cold/snow person.
I've been off the exercise but hopefully get myself back on track today.

Please take care!!

Hi SB,

Well, I'm feeling much better. I still have a little bit of a cough. I've gotten a lot of rest, which has been nice. Our school nurse is a nurse practitioner, and she's credentialed to prescribe medicine, so she has me on a course of antibiotics and a few other things that all seem to be working well (all of my indicators have been consistently good). I have a follow up appt with her tomorrow.

My "no work" order extended through yesterday (though I did have to do some online work the last couple of days, so it was not total "no work."). Today I have to start working on grading my students' finals. It's been very nice to have this time to recover. Such a different pace of life.

Thanks for your support. I'm glad that you all didn't get too much snow. I'm sure you'll get back to exercising when you're ready. I've been thinking about getting in a little extra movement, myself, and will probably try to ease back into exercise with a Country Heat soon. Hope you have a great day!

Good morning!!

Yesterday:

Pahla B's Menopause Metabolism Boost

This was a metcon workout so I got some cardio in with the weights which was great.
Today is another cold gray day with some rain/snow coming in soon so no outdoor walking. I'll see what I can motivate myself to do indoors.

CAMBET, so glad to hear you're doing so much better! What a relief. I'm glad the school nurse was able to prescribe effective meds for you. Please take it slow coming back to work and exercise. No need to push yourself, as I'm sure you know

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning!

Well, I'm doing much better. At my check up yesterday morning the school nurse said that my lungs didn't sound quite as clear as she would have liked, but I have come a long way and I am passed the pneumonia stage. I still have a light cough, which she said will probably linger for while. I'm still taking my meds and getting plenty of rest. I have started back working; I worked a few hours on Thursday and worked an hour or so in my office after my appt yesterday. On Thursday after I got home (I had an in-person meeting; it was my first time out of the house in days and it was good to be out), I took the time to decorate for Christmas because I thought it would make me happy, and it did.

Yesterday I did about 10 mins of CH: Country Swing. I took it pretty easy, just wanted to get in some movement. I'll probably do a little more today. I have a ton of grading to do before final grades are due on Monday, so I have my work cut out for me the weekend. I'll make sure to get some rest in in between it all.

SB - Great job with the Pahla B workout. I am going to have a closer look at her workouts as soon as I get a chance, since I'm curious. I hope that the weather doesn't stay gray for too long, and that you can get in a walk soon. Have a great day!

Good Morning,

Yesterday I did about 20 mins of CH: Country Swing throughout the day to help meet my hourly step goals. I took it very easy and modified to eliminate any impact. Yesterday was the first day that I met my hourly step goals (250 steps/hr from 8-4) in the last two weeks. I made it to over 5,500 steps, which is also the most steps that I've had in the last two weeks. I'm taking it slow (I'm still resting a lot), but I feel a lot better and I'm getting back into the swing of things.

I still have A LOT of grading to do, so that will be the focus of my day. It's currently 32 degrees outside , so I'm glad that I don't have to go anywhere.

Hi SB!

Good morning!!

Yesterday:

40 minute outdoor walk

It felt good to get outside and walk.
I am possibly planning another one for today. I had signed up for the zoom VF get-
together today and I think there will be some workouts involved. Essentrics by Jackie B who is an instructor and a couple of other workouts which I hope to participate in. I'm extremely tech ignorant and already the zoom link I was sent said ID invalid so I'm not sure I'll be able to get on but I'll try.

CAMBET, I'm so glad to hear you're doing so much better and starting to get back to work and exercise. Good luck with all that grading and take care of yourself.

Have a wonderful day!
