Hi SB,
When I finally saw the school nurse, she told me that she thought that I had pneumonia and sent me for a chest X-ray. it confirmed that I, in fact, have double pneumonia.

To the nurse's credit (insert eye roll) at that point she swung into action and gave me two shots (one antibiotic and one steroid) and set me an a aggressive course of treatment.
She kept saying that after 3 days of a consistently high fever I should have done more to bring the severity of my situation to her attention.

I kept saying that my temp wasn't 103 all day, every day, but that when the medicine would wear off it would spike to 101 or 103 until the next dose of medicine kicked in, and that I had told her that, and that I didn't think that the medicine was strong enough, in more than one email. It was an awkward conversation with each of us kind of pointing out that the other should have done better. I never point blank asked her why she didn't answer my last 2 emails (or if she even read them). She said that if certain things were not better by Monday, she'd have to send me to the hospital, so we made a follow-up appt for Monday morning. She told me to make sure to email her on Sunday to let her know how I was responding to the meds and how my temp and oxygen levels were doing.
The weekend was challenging and I monitored my numerical indicators (temp and oxygen levels, which were right on the border of acceptable range) like a hawk. I've never had pneumonia and this was scary. My 2 Italy-crew friends suggested that maybe I should seek a second opinion. So I decided what that I would follow the treatment plan, and if I wasn't better by Sunday, I'd consider going to the hospital. I improved a lot over the weekend.
Yesterday, things checked out well, in that I'm making good progress and my lungs sound better, so I'm not going to need to be hospitalized (thank God for that

). I didn't email the nurse on Sunday, which she got on my case about yesterday, but I just let it drop (though it was another insert eye roll moment for me. I will say that she genuinely hugged me out of delight that I was doing better, so I know that she was genuinely concerned). I have a "no work" order until tomorrow. I asked my friend who was our former chair if she would fill in for me as chair for a few days and she agreed, so I let me dept know. I've been getting lots of rest and I feel better.
Thanks for your healing vibes and hugs!

I sure needed them! Great job with your walk the other day, and with the Pahla B workout.

I imagine that you were probably glad to have a little DOMS the next day.

I saw on the news that they were calling for white-out conditions in different parts of the country. I hope you all didn't get too much snow. Hope you have a great day!
