Good morning!

Hoping I’ll have a game of Yahtzee or Carcassonne this morning, then going off to exercise at the studio. Following that, I have an online seminar on sleep to attend, then I’ll get out for a walk. Tonight starts a three day winter storm up here - first part should be rain, then it eventually turns to snow. I’ll be working on a recipe given to me by a friend on spaghetti with sardines (onion and parsley also). A new use for sardines I want to try!

Laura, awww, poor Polly . I hope she’s recovered some more since yesterday. Does the vet at your usual clinic do dental or does a dental specialist vet come through? Was her anesthesia injected or breathed in? I’m not sure about the Maverick name in your title - I think cowboys, I think fast cars, I think males - not food or good habits . As a kid in AZ, I remember getting out to the desert and finding pink quartz and scorpions and the cacti were pretty huge and cool! I remember my brother hitting his head at my uncle’s house and needing to go to the hospital, and I remember a huge stuffed dog I got for Christmas there that didn’t seem to make it back home . I did go back to see a friend staying there a few years back and saw some lovely parkland dessert out there.

Vantreesta, I went to the Grand Canyon several years ago with a friend, but unfortunately he had trouble walking, so no hikes down the paths. I don’t think I would have many years left to hike out there either - I should go soon! I think I might be a foster failure also .

Paula, Bob Voyage on your cruise coming up soon! You seem prepared for it! I’m not sure what MOBE stands for, but it’s counseling associated with my health insurance MOBEforlife.com. I was in Glacier Park about twenty five years ago - unfortunately it was a major fire season when we got there, so places to stay weren’t considered safe in that area. It looks like I have a summer festival, Irish Fest, next summer to go to in the Milwaukee area.

Waves to all!

Good evening. Workout this morning was Sarah Starr Morning Refresh and Pahla B Body Shaping Day 17 Cardio.

Rained on and off all day. Had my first PT visit. Left the house it wasn’t raining, got there and it was raining so got wet getting into the building. Did the PT appointment went to leave. It started raining as soon as I went to leave the building, so got wet again walking to my car. Fingers crossed I don’t catch a cold before we leave on the cruise.

Anita, another winter storm coming your way. Well, keep warm. I hope there’s not too much shoveling involved. I love spaghetti but even when I was eating meat and fish, I don’t think I’d put sardines in spaghetti. Let us know how you like it. I’ve heard sardines are good for you. Glacier National Park was beautiful when I was there. We don’t leave until the 16th, so I’ll be around for a while longer.

Good morning!

I had to reschedule my game to the afternoon and it started raining outside, so no walk yesterday. Today, I’ll be at the WRC, a walk if it’s not raining or snowing, and then dinner is planned with friends (fish fry ), but not sure if it’s really storming out there. I’m hearing about lots of snow coming, but I hope lots is rain and drains away…

Paula, hope you keep away from colds in this rainy period! The sardine spaghetti was good - I’ll still have another two meals of it! The fish was pretty well distributed as mush in the spaghetti - just kind of tasted like oily spaghetti I had as a kid. A bit of onion, garlic and parsley in there gave most of the flavors.

Waves to all!

Anita, I have never tried sardines but found myself turning up my nose at the thought of them in spaghetti. It looks like you are set to get more snow from this storm than we are but who knows?! It rained here yesterday afternoon with a thunderstorm and then last night it poured with another thunderstorm. It was still pouring when I got up this morning but stopped not long after. I need to go walk before it starts up again.

Yesterday, Polly was much better physically. She was able to walk. She was just so hungry; it was like we hadn't fed her in weeks. But she still seemed really out of it. Today, she seems much better mentally and is less out of it. The weird thing is that she constantly stays in "her" room, the bathroom where she sleeps at night. Usually, she only goes in there to eat or use her box during the day. She doesn't want to come out at all. I guess she will once she's ready. We wonder if she's in pain in her mouth, but we aren't seeing anything that leads us to that conclusion. But she has a bit of a poker face when it comes to pain and discomfort.

Yesterday and today have just melted away. DH had an appointment on both days that I took him to. And I have done things around the house. And I have worked on my business plan for my website.

Thanks for the feedback on the logo and name. I have two topics that I want to cover. The first is gluten- and dairy-free eating. And that is the one that I will deal with for the foreseeable future. Eventually, I may want to do something about intermittent fasting. That would be a separate website and book (maybe). So, I think I will use the original name and logo. If I eventually do something with intermittent fasting, I will reconsider that option. I think it would include more men than my current target market and might be a better match. Of course, this system I'm working my way through may lead me to choose another name. But, with everything I've done, I feel ready to make a decision.

Paula - I hope you don't get sick! That's the last thing you need at this point. It's good you got the check-in done so you can just look forward to it until it's time to pack.

Anita - How did the sleep seminar go? Was it worth attending? We're supposed to get rain and high wind in the next 12 - 18 hours. But it's fairly warm. I hope that your system is not too bad.

Vantreesta - How do you feel after those days of exercise? Was it too much? Not enough? Just right? (Yes, I'm in Goldilocks mode! ) Good job getting restarted. You can always tweak from there. Congrats on 100% of your teams winning!

Good evening. Well today is the last day of March and I’m not sorry to see it go. Workout this morning was a neighborhood walk with DH and Pahla B Body Shaping Day 18 Moderate Weights.

We got a nice day so we went flying. It was one of those spectacular days for flying around the mountains. The air was dead calm so we circled around the top of Mt San Antonio. It’s the shortest of the three highest mountains around us and is 10,064 high. It was so beautiful, covered with deep snow. We wouldn’t have done that if there was any wind at all. Turbulence over a mountain in a small plane could be bad news. It’s not Mt. Everest or anything but it was still seriously beautiful.

Anita, sorry you didn’t get a walk in yesterday. Oily spaghetti with fishy mush throughout is less than appealing. I’ll stick with marinara sauce. I’m sorry you’re looking at more snow and cold. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice here, but more rain on Sunday.

Vantreestra, well we agree on the sardine spaghetti. Looks like you’re doing well getting back into regular exercise.

Laura, every day sounds like you're making more progress on the website and the book. Glad Polly is starting to feel better. Don't be surprised if she avoids you for a few days, it may take some serious treats to get back on her good side.

Good? morning!

Well I survived the snow storm yesterday - looks like about 8” of heavy snow on the ground and sticking to the trees. My birch tree in front is curled over to the ground - I hope it will rise back up instead of breaking off! I’ll be out snow shoveling and snow blowing, if that works, to clear my driveway. Some of the snow will melt as our temps will get above 32, but it will take some time. Luckily I don’t have to be anywhere today! The snow shoveling will be my workout of the day.

Yesterday, I did go for a walk and saw 11 deer at the park! Seven in one area and 4 in another.

Vantreesta, I’m happy that it rained heavily before the snow fell - I’m sure we’d be well over a foot of snow if it were all snow! Nice job doing new workouts! How’d you like them?

Laura, I hope Polly returns to a full normal soon! Her gums are likely to be a bit sore where her teeth got extracted. Good luck choosing your title! I think the Maverick one would appeal more to men. The sleep seminar was OK - it covered OTC devices that monitored your sleep, not medically prescribed ones. The devices pretty much just monitored your sleep, not changing what phase you’re in or helping you get to sleep much. I’m sure the session is recorded and on the AARP site if you want to watch it.

Paula, I’m so happy to flip to a new page on my calendar - it’s one of the reasons I have an old fashioned paper calendar on my wall! Glad that you had a safe flight over the mountain - at least you know what’s dangerous up there! Frankly, the sardine spaghetti was good! I think most people wouldn’t even know the sardines were in there!

Waves to all!

Anita

ETA: Officially the snowfall was 9”, which puts us at #3 for record snowfall! I got the driveway and sidewalks shoveled, but not edge to edge - just enough to get a car through and walk OK. My birch in front is sagging to the ground under the snow - I hope enough melts today to let that tree back up!

Today was a quiet day. We got rain and wind this morning and this afternoon the sun came out with the wind still blowing. Compared to Anita, it was pretty good.

I sat around all day on the computer. I worked on the plan for my website and then worked on compiling some tax records. Plus, we changed the sheets on the bed, so that means lots of laundry to wash bedcovers, towels, and sheets.

Polly remains in her room most of the time, but she comes out to let us know when she needs something. Usually, she wants food. She comes out and sits until one of us follows her back to her room. She'll walk over to the empty plate, look at it, and then look at us. She's still an effective communicator.

Anita - Did it feel like a confirmation that today's April Fool's Day when you were out shoveling? I'm sorry that winter doesn't seem to realize that it should go away. I sleep fine, so I'll pass on the seminar. I just wondered if something like that included good info or not. It was more professional curiosity than personal.

Paula - It's great you got such a good, clear day for flying. It sounds beautiful! As far as Polly goes, we can't give her the treats she loves because they are crunchy. So I got this new kind that is soft, more liquidy. She acted like it was not worth considering. I was so disappointed.

Good evening. Workout this morning was Pahla B Body Shaping Day 19 Core and Balance. It was a nice day so we went to Dana Point and did a long walk in the marina. Also did my PT routine in the morning and again this evening.

Anita, I hope you get some warm weather soon and the snow begins to melt off. I’d be getting pretty sick of snow and cold if I were you. Hope your birch tree was able to stand back up on it’s own. I prefer paper calendars too, love flipping the page to a new month.

Laura, my brother and sister in law have a cat with few teeth. They feed her something called “little soup”. I’m told the cat loves it. It’s very soft cat food for old cats with teeth and mouth problems. Hopefully Polly will find something she likes that isn’t crunchy. You are so right saying that Winter doesn’t seem to know it’s time for it to go away.

Today all I did was day 1 of Yoga with Kassandra's new 30 day morning yoga challenge, my toe yoga and some stretches for my neck and tennis elbow.

I've liked the new workouts, I just want to do more. I figured I should go a little easy last week after no real workouts the month I was gone.
