I lost 107 pounds in the early 1970's doing nothing but straight leg situps. I still do Pilates rollups. Did that set me up for a back injury 30 years later? Who knows? With my spine the way it is I need all the tucking and flexion I can get. Crunches are part of my rehab from PT and Pilates is good for me. Rollups/crunches every day.
