Warning-Check your stability balls for wear--Broke my arm!

I can't believe it happened to me but it did! my ball burst when I was doing chest flies and my arm (near my wrist) is broken Having surgery on Friday to fix it.
I am grateful that my injury isn't worse! My ball was probably over 7 years old and probably should have been replaced sooner.

I feel like i have to warn people that this can and does happen. I was using 20lb weights on a 65cm ball. I found the ball convenient compared to a bench because it took up so little space.

I will use a bench from now on! Be careful if you use a ball. Keep it well inflated and check it for wear and tear. Mine was "anti-burst" but it split along a seam and I went down fast even though technically it didnt "burst".

Sorry for typos, I am trying to type with one (non-dominant as luck would have it!) hand.

Really wanted to get the message out.

I'm so sorry this happened! I remember years ago that Daphne reported a serious accident with a stability ball at her gym.

Good luck with your surgery and recovery. And thank you for the warning. I use an old anti-burst ball and assumed it was safe due to it being anti-burst.

Oh my! I'm so sorry that happened to you! Very good advice about replacing equipment. I should replace my stability ball as it is the Firm ball that came with the stability ball workout. I can't tell you how old it is, but I do know it is over 10 years! My firm resistance band broke last week, and I bought that set around the same time as my stability ball. I need to replace my yoga mat, too.

Good luck with your recovery and thank you for the reminder about replacing equipment!

Oh, my gosh! I was just about to do a stability ball workout tomorrow, and I realize thinking about it that the ball is probably very, very old. I think I will look into a replacement ASAP!

Heal well and quickly!

Oh my, this is like one of my biggest fears when using the ball for workouts! Mine is anti-burst too so this is really scary to know they can split along the seams. I'm SO sorry this happened to you and wish you a smooth surgery and speedy recovery. Thank you for taking the time to come post a PSA when you're injured!!
