What is your favorite music to exercise by?

I do not have many videos but of those I have most of the music is so bland! I wish the DVDs had options to turn off the music but keep the instruction. Anyhow I end up muting the sound to keep from being bored by the music. Does anyone else do this? What is your favorite albums to make you want to move? I mostly own classic music and other than Classical Thunder they do not get the adrenaline (spelling?) pumping at all! I need something to make me want to move!

No specific music suggestions, but you might like to check out the music mixes specifically for use by fitness instructors at:

http://www.musicflex.com
http://www.powermusic.com

Most let you hear samples online.

80s!

How cheesy is that? My only excuse is that it reminds me of going out dancing in junior high, and then in college after the 80s dance night became popular in the clubs.

geez.

current favorite

I love the beat in Bhangra workouts so the new Broadway musical *Bombay Dreams* soundtrack has really clicked for freestyling on the rebounder and Bosu for me.

Barb S
who really should mute all the newer TaeBo workouts and use a music mix that Billy Blanks had made that has pumping music on it because the new TaeBos have bland repetitive music IMHO

I don't care much what's going on in cardio vids (or, more correctly, I have zero expectations for the music there, so it's hard to be disappointed as long as the instructor is on the beat), but for lifting, I like metal or hard rock, which thankfully is what gets played mostly at my gym, and is no problem to crank at home.

For running, my absolute favorite is the Rocky Story soundtrack. I use a lot of the songs in my mixes for running!

I'm with Katie in listening to '80's music- in my case early '80's Euro-Pop like Erasure, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, etc.

my favourite music for exercising are:

80s new wave (especially Gary Numan) and electronica (Fatboy Slim, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers).

I like lots of things

Hard rock (aerosmith)

Bhangra

Pop music, but not all. I like it to have a "driving" sound about it.

For example: Back street boys - larger than life, Moulin rouge - lady marmalade (the remake, not the original labelle version. I remember sitting around with my friends giggling over the original, once we figured out what she was saying), En Vogue : Free your mind

Not stuff like "Hit me baby one more time" , "Vogue" (madonna). I need that edge to it, or a faster beat.

Different styles of working out require different styles of music. Kickboxing wants hard/driving. Yoga wants sitar music, or really appealing instrumental.

This is a link to a post I once did listing out my faves.
