Which meditation CD to choose?

I got an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday, and have just enough money left for one CD. I would like something for meditation and to help me sleep at night and am interested in yoga nidra (thanks to comments here).

At any rate, I've narrowed it down to two: Shiva Rea's Drops of Nectar CD (the tennis ball massage sounds wonderful!) and Experience Nidra Yoga. If you could only have one of the two, which would you pick?

TIA!

Jen

Hi, Jen! I don't know much about the latter, but I love Shiva and don't have Drops of Nectar, so I'd go with that one.

I love Experience Yoga Nidra and listen to it almost every night! On the other hand, Drops of Nectar would be more versatile. It really depends on your personality. I like Shiva, but she is so serious all the time. The Swami and his cows are more my cup of tea.

I've heard a couple of references to cows. What is that all about?

Thanks, Sharon! I did read that one and got a lot of good information. Unfortunately, it made it even harder for me to choose Actually, I think I'm going to change my Amazon order to get a paperback of the cookbook I want, and then I can afford both.

I'm also interested in the guided meditations for developing calmness, meditation, and love. I'm particularly interested in the walking meditation, and I found that I can download an mp3 of just that section for $4.00.

I thought walking meditations might be perfect for stressful days at work (so I don't go buy a 1/4 lb. of fudge like I did yesterday after melting down in front of a student!)

Good solution! The appeal of guided meditation media is really so individual. It's hard to recommend one you like to somebody else. Frex: After one listening The Swami and His Cows drove me crazy, but almost everyone else loves him.

The cows are part of the 'nature sounds' in the background and they really add something special. It's impossible to listen to it without smiling.

Mary--if you want to try another yoga nidra as a free download, try this site:

http://www.syclondon.com/cd/index.htm

There you can rightclick and save the first track from Volume 1, Deep Relaxation & Yoga Nidra.

But I must say it is pretty boring in comparison to Swami J's. He's the best!
