Oh those classic Firms

I haven't been on this site for a long time. I'm just getting back into exercise and have been loving some of the newer Jessica Smith DVD's. I saw the classic Firm thread and now my interested is renewed! I think I'll try Volume 1 tomorrow. However, at 53 and not in the best shape, I don't think it will be quite the same as when I did it my 20's. And I never work out for a full hour anymore, but I'll give it a whirl!

Donna ~ I'm 52 and don't workout to a full hr either. If you have the remastered versions by Fitness Favorites, you can easily choose the chapters you want to make it a shorter workout.

I like to break Vol. 1 & 2 in half. Anna chaptered them nicely.

I think it's just fine if you can't or don't want to do the whole workout, but just so younger people don't get the wrong idea, I'm 60 and I still do these workouts in their entirety. The main adjustment I've made for age is that I use a dowel for leg press, but Vol 1 and 2 don't have leg press.

Good point Carol. I do all kinds of modifying. I occasionally get in an hr workout but time doesn't allow it most days. So I do what I can and enjoy what I do. Yes, the dowel is my friend and my tall box is only the blue section now.

I use the blue section for fast tall box climbs. I use 14" for slow leg presses, but always with a dowel. And my favorite workouts these days are the ones that just use weights.

I don't know why I haven't used the dowel for the tall box ?? I should try it next time and use the 2 pieces together. Thanks for sharing. I use the dowel for lunges and dips but obviously I've had a brain fart when it comes to the tall box.

On a different note, I just finished Upper Body Parts from the Classics and man I love that WO. I was surprised to burn 200 calories with straight weight work. Bonus for me!

You can use a heavy dumbbell on the side that isn't holding the dowel.

I really want to bring Standing Legs back into my routine. I think using the dowel will help accomplish that. Also, Aerobic Butt Busters is also great for the legs. After UB this morning, I'm thinking I need to spend some time using the Classics. It's been too long since I used them exclusively.
