Heavy Weights

In the Intro to Cathe's Slow and Heavy she says you may have to go a little lighter because the slowness takes out any momentum. I just finished 3 weeks of RWH and a recovery week, so I am switching to these for a couple of weeks. Then I plan to go back to Margaret Richard.

I found I did indeed have to go down in weights which surprised me as S & H just has 8 reps in each set.

On the other hand, for Margaret Richards, who uses a lot of reps at a faster speed, I also have to go down in weights.

So I'm using my heaviest weights for workouts that use 12 reps. Does that sound right?

A few years ago I used Meso 3 for my heavy weight period. What other workouts are good for heavier weights?
BTW, Slow and Heavy workouts are an hour if you do the whole thing. I'm not used to an hour of strength so I only did the triceps today, which was about 30 minutes with a warm up and stretch.

I believe the general rule of thumb regardless of weight is to use the heaviest you can use and still maintain proper form.

Makes sense.

I was thinking of light weights, more reps (15-20?)
Medium weights, 12 - 15
Heavy weights 8-10.

But for Slow and Heavy I went back to light weights. Just surprised me. I guess Cathe knows

But what Cathe workouts use low reps/heavy weights?

I've always said that the title, Slow & Heavy, was a misnomer. It's impossible to use your normal heaviest weights in this workout.

There's nothing wrong with breaking your S&H into parts, making it a split workout.
I'd do something like this:
Chest
Shoulders
Back
Arms
Legs

Someone here said they only did two sets instead of three and that's what I've done with them. It makes them much more doable for me.

Are there any Cathe workouts that allow you to use heavier weights - besides Meso 3? That is a good one but I didn't like the music and it was just too much.

I was going to suggest Burn Sets from XTrain, but I hadn't done it in so long that I began to doubt myself, but then I found this : http://www.videofitness.com/~vfwnk/f...d.php?t=199300
Others agree that you can go heavier in Burn Sets

You can use "heavier" weights with Cathe's Gym Styles and her Pure Strength series. I have used heavier weights with Cathe's Pyramid workouts. I especially use heavier weights if I chose the pyramid up or the pyramid down only premix. I also use heavy weights with Cathe's Timesaver and Cathe's 4 Day Split

You can also use "heavier' weights with Body Beast and the Hammer workouts in Hammer and Chisel and KCM's Muscle Up

The Gamma workouts in T25, P90X, MetRX, Tonys Horton's One on Ones,
