Yes and no. Yes I train with sandbags, no I don't use DVDs.

I use paper/youtube workouts for ideas - some of the stuff from Bodyrock uses sandbags, some workouts from Marcus Martinez (MBody) and My Mad Methods.

Many of the movements are similar to kettlebell exercises or powerlifting moves. Because the sand in the bag shifts, knowing proper form and core engagement is even more critical than with kettlebells, in my opinion.

Does anyone know of a place where I could purchase an inexpensive sandbag? I don't want the kind that prepare you for flood - I'm looking for the fancy training bags a la bodyrock. But the prices I've seen have been way expensive (expensive for me is around $100).

I bought the expensive one so not risking a bag burst at an inopportune time . There's several internet sites showing how to make a sandbag (e.g. Ross Training). And the cautionary tale http://www.thegreatfitnessexperiment...-sandbags.html.

Same here. I have a sandbag and a few DVDs, but I've never used them. I use it for a lot of the Bodyrock workouts, and on my own.

I've been looking for a Bodyrock workout that really puts the sandbag to good use. Do you have a favorite?

EnglishIvy I will suggest some good ones.

Note that I only do the ones launched when Zuzana was still at BodyRock. I don't like BR anymore. I can't workout with the new girl. I follow Zuzana at her new youtube channel. Her new chanel is more professional. Anyhow, here's a couple of my favorites where she use the sandbag. Be aware that I prefer workouts with repetitions counts because are longer. Also, I tend to focus more on form on those than the time intervals ones.

360 Reps Bad Ass
1000 reps It Will Rain Sweat
Lean Muscle Fast
Shake it
365 Rep Belly Blaster
What's my name
Hot Mess
Burpee Fusion

Here is the link that shows all Zuzana's workouts with the description of equipment. http://litealloy.com/workouts/tags So, you will find the ones that use the sandbag quickly.

I agree with Sharaz. Even though Lisa is an amazing athlete, there's a few things that really bother me about her and Freddy.

I find a lot of the exercises that they string together too complicated for what Bodyrock is suppose to stand for, and it is taken away from the intensity of the workouts.

I did this workout this past week, and I cleaned it up a bit:

http://www.bodyrock.tv/2012/03/22/st...bonus-mash-up/

Instead of the box jump to press up to pushup, I did a box jump, a bent over row, and then a push up. For the side lunge with a press up, I just kept the sandbag on my shoulder.

If you don't have a Ugi ball, a regular med ball will do, or even a dumbbell.
