Balance Ball workouts?

I JUST got a balance ball (yes, I'm VERY out of the loop!) and went through the review section for what videos to start with. I'm thinking of the 3 Suzanne Deason ones (upper, lower, abs) or her Gaiam total body one? Any others? What do you guys suggest?

Her Gaiam Beginner's workout is more intermediate and thorough than her previous Living Arts ones

Here's a recent thread about ball workouts, including the Living Arts Balance Ball workouts:

http://205.214.68.83/vbulletin/showt...l&pagenumber=1

If you're interested interested in the Living Arts workouts, I'd suggest starting with the Beginner's workout. It's less expensive than the Upper/Lower/Abs set (on DVD or VHS), and it has a 10-minute stretch segment at the end that would make a great add-on to other workouts. The Beginner's DVD has a bonus 15-minute stretch segment in addition to the VHS footage.

If you like the Beginner's workout, the Upper/Lower/Abs set is worth getting too.

You could also try to trade for the compilation video that is sold with the Balance Ball. I've noticed some copies on the exchange offered for trade or SASE.

speaking of blowing up the balance ball

I thought blowing up the balance ball was the toughest workout of the week, when I got mine!

This has prompted me to think

that I need to blow up my ball and get some more ball tapes. I deflated it because the only use it got was the kids playing with it. (It even has a small pair of eyes and a smile drawn on it, but I confess that I did that, not them). I may have to try that Beginner's tape. I had a sampler that came with it, but I didn't care for it.

Cardio work with your stability ball

It never dawned on me that you could get a heck of a cardio workout with your stability ball until I ordered a Fitball workout.

Yikes! Don't let that mild mannered ball that sits motionless in the corner of your living room fool you. That ball has the ability to kick your butt, get your abs in shape and leave you 'laying motionless on your living room floor' crying "uncle!"

Enjoy your new toy.

The size of your ball really matters

for cardio workout.

In all seriousness, the first time I did a Fitball cardio workout I did it on a 55cm. ball, which wasn't big enough for me and lordy, my thighs were on FIRE. But, it did prompt me to buy a good quality 65cm ball.

Barb, it's confession time. I could never understand how you were getting a workout bouncing on your ball. Then I tried my first Fitball workout. It's amazing the cardio workout you can get with your stability ball.

I did Awesome Abs yesterday and it took me the course of the whole day to do 22 minutes of that tape! It definitely wasn't my idea of a fun ab workout on my ball.
