I can't say enough good things about Ray Long's Yoga Mat Companion series. There are four books that focus on a different area: vinyasa flow and standing poses; hip openers and forward bends; backbends and twists; and arm balances and inversions.

Edie, how exactly are you looking to deepen your practice--i.e., do you want to practice more advanced postures, get into yoga on a more spiritual level, or what? I think this would guide recommendations...

Also, this book talks about yoga philosophy... This was my VERY first yoga book... and the book that literally changed my life....
