KV Ballet WO... Don't Kill ME!! Please..

Gosh.. what can I say. Karen V. has some of the best form and instructor that's out there,... but that being said, I was left some what disappointed in this routine. Maybe a little "eh".

The standing barre work is great and challenging. Definitely a twist on some of the moves that have become standard for this method of exercise. But once we hit the mat, she lost me. For those of you who are core junkies, you will enjoy it.

The first mat segment is dedicated to pushup and planks of all kinds. (which of course I have to avoid due to neck and shoulder damage). So I sat there watching how graceful she was instead. (I did do the ab work)

The second mat segment did quite a bit with bridge work, which I love, and a bit more core work with a touch of tricep work thrown in.

I guess I was expecting more leg work on the mat and when it didn't come, I realized my expections were set too high.

I say this with incredible respect to Karen but I truly get a better lower body WO using Classical Stretch. I know you all could think I'm favoring Miranda b/c I've been using her for so long, but I don't feel as thoroughly worked all over with this routine.

For those who don't enjoy CS, then this just might be what you're looking for. I will give her stretching dvd a try as well. I'm just not sure how often I will reach for this.

ETA: You all have to know how much I wanted to love this workout.. Dash it all!!

Thanks for the review, I really appreciate hearing all sides!

Tell me Tina, was there any leg floorwork (ie - lying leg lifts, pretzel) besides the bridgework?

Aw, sorry it was not your thing, Tina.

When I wrote out my preview I was careful to write out every exercise, so was clear that the Mat sections contained upper body/core and butt/hamstring work. I this workout and felt pleasantly sore the next day. I also CS, and really like that this isn't the same thing. I do have lots of traditional leg floorwork DVDs (including some of Karen's), so appreciate that this offered a different variety.

If Mary will carry them, then at least one can return them if unhappy, so maybe anyone who's not sure should wait til then.

You know what, Tina? Don't be sorry at all! This WO sounds like something I would really, truly enjoy, for the exact same reasons that you do not like it!

Tina, I appreciate all reviews! There is no reason to apologize.

How long is the plank/pushup section? I can't really do them either for the same reasons as yours.

There is no pretzel, side leg lifts, etc. I guess that's what I really enjoy about floorwork.

Lucky Star ~ Your review was great. I will admit, I did not read every exercise included. Mainly your thoughts and overall opinion is what I read. I had already placed my order by the time you started writing.

I'm not sorry I bought it b/c previews don't show everything and I needed to try it to get it out of my system.

Here is what Lucky Star posted on her Review: http://forum.videofitness.com/showth...=155353&page=3

You can read for yourself and decide.

I have a daughter who is totally into barre styled routines, so I need her to try it out before trading it. If she likes it, then we'll keep it around. Her favorite is Tracey E. I'm sure she will be impressed with KV when I share with her how old she is.

I was in total aw of her back and arm muscle definition.

Tina, if you don't like it, you don't like it. First impression counts for a lot.

No need to feel bad because the current hot thing isn't your cup of tea. There are too many cuppas, too little time.
