Something to consider: the calmness and peacefulness doesn't necessarily happen immediately. I've taken a bit of mindfulness/stress reduction programs. What I've found is that after a yoga sequence, I may feel "meh" - physically stretched out, but nothing particularly mind calming. Then after a few days I notice that I wake up happier. Just a nice general sense of happiness. And then I remember that I've been consistent with my evening yoga practice over the past few days.
Ditto for meditation - nothing significantly improves that day. But when I stick with it, then I notice I don't react to stressful circumstances in the same way. I'm more overall-calm.
So an answer could be to stick with one method for a few weeks, and then see if you notice a difference.
