Never been a member of a gym...Help!

I have some locker room etiquette:

DO NOT sit bare-butted on a bench!! Ewwww gross!!!
Don't leave your stuff all over. Don't leave dirty underwear lying around.
Clean up after yourself. Don't leave your hair clogging the drain. Don't leave water all over the sink.
Don't take your time in the shower when it's busy. People usually don't have a lot of time to wait for you.
Whoever said don't wear perfume is on the mark. I swim in the mornings and there are people who put it on before they swim! And I'm in the pool before 6 AM! It turns my stomach.

I've never heard of faculty/staff having to pay for a university gym! Our university not only make it free -- but they really push faculty and staff to use the facilities.

They have special faculty/staff classes and free personal training. We're even allowed to bring our families to the gym for free!

As far as etiquette goes...

1) Wipe equipment down when you're done

2) If many people are waiting for a piece of cardio equipment, limit your time to 20 minutes

3) In the locker rooms, stow your gym bag and clothing under the benches or in a locker. I find people who spread out all over the place are a problem!

Other than that -- you'll learn individual gym manners as you go! Don't worry about it too much and have FUN!

This was after the recent thread here where everyone ranted about rude things people do at the gym. I happen to think the woman at Barbara P.'s gym who uses the blow dryer on her pubic hair won the award for bizarre gym behavior, but MSN had as one of their tips: Don't urinate in the shower. WHAAAAT? The fact that they wrote this means that someone does it, right? The name on the article was a woman's, but there is a big part of me that hopes it was just a pseudonym for a man who hangs out in icky fraternity jock locker rooms.

I know that you did not need this tip. It cracks me up every time I think of it, though. I think the tips here in this thread are much better than MSN's.
