I don't think I've ever matched Cathe except for maybe in 4DS, Fit Split, and Xtrain. Otherwise, I don't even try. If Cathe's going 30, I reach for 20s haha!
For all I know, Cathe's going light in her videos and I STILL can't match her irl. Very sobering thought, since I'm younger than Cathe and have rarely matched her in all the years I've worked out with her. Heck, I'm just trying to be better than I was yesterday. It is a wonderful feeling to match her though I just don't get to experience that feeling often lol!

I don’t know, if I were Cathe or a cast member, I don’t think I would pick the very heaviest weight I could lift when I was going to be filmed. There would be way too much grunting, lol, and I would have concern I wouldn’t be able to make that very last rep! And they can’t pause if they need a few extra seconds. Especially Cathe, since she is talking. I always figure she is stronger than she shows on set.
And definitely stronger than me. Trying to be better than yesterday, yes! |

I posted this in my check-in group- I can see why Cathe chose Kristin from Live for this series if they couldn’t get Jai. She looks absolutely amazing! Her arms! She smiled through class today while maintaining proper form.
You can tell Cathe was feeling it in the live class today. Often times she lifted much lighter than usual or no weights with instruction only. She mentioned in a post on Facebook that even during the filming of this series she had to grab a lighter weight than she actually planned on doing. She just had to listen to her body. Even before my accident, my upper body was nowhere near as strong as her or the class members. I was often at least 5 pounds lighter, sometimes more depending on the move. My lower body has always been much stronger so I could frequently match her weights but not always. This time around I know for a fact I won’t even be close. I just try to pick weights these days that will offer a challenge. |

Just got a look at both Cathe and Kristin's arms---wow!
I've matched Cathe's weight and sometimes exceeded it, depending on the exercise. I still could, but medical recommendations don't make it a good idea for me to do so and I've had to make adjustments. It will be interesting to see how I do with the new series, if I decide to get it. ChelePA, somehow it makes me feel better to see Cathe struggle or look tired. Somehow it makes her seem more human! She's amazing with her strength and endurance, at least from what we can see.

LOL I'm sure that's true lately, in my case anyway because I imagine you are crazy strong from your previous posts! I'm doing a Cathe Live "heavy weight" rotation now and the last one I did I could see that she was fighting to get to the 12 reps---more than I was. HOWEVER, I don't have the dumbbell weight that she was using for some of the earlier exercises so she must have been more exhausted than I was.

Cathe STS Muscle & Recovery Super Sets
The first workout in STS Phase 1 utilizes the Super Sets method. In this total body workout, we’ll do 2 exercises for opposing muscle groups back-to-back with very little rest in between. Challenging our muscles to work through fatigue as we move quickly between exercises will help to increase our overall strength and stamina. |

So exciting!!!! I am buying this sight unseen! The original STS are probably my favorite heavy lifting workouts and I've done it often.
I personally will try to lift heavier than Cathe. She's my challenge. Actually Caroline Gervan is who challenges me the most, weight wise, but that's a different story. Happy to see Brenda and Al will be there. I'm actually not too concerned about the cast, music, set, outfits as long as the workouts are GOOD! Watching for the presale now.
