Off-Topic Summer Reading

Recently read No Place for a Woman: The Struggle for Suffrage in the Wild West, by Chris Enss. I am very glad I read this. I never realize how much effort, over many years, was put in by many women and some men, to change the laws so women could vote. Also the push to enable women to vote, encouraged other women's rights to increase, like opening up traditionally male professions, equal pay, in divorces more often able to get custody of the children and to own property.

This book did cover how the struggle happened in each western state, but how it went also on the national level.

Stephen King's Billy Summers.

Not horror, more thriller. It's very good. Maybe on my top 5 King novel list.

It was ok, held my interest. Not bad, not great. I knew what it was about beforehand and I think it was accurate in describing how one feels/acts when this happens.

Thank you for the thoughts re: my mom.

I have not yet finished The Comfort Book, but she is almost done with it and loves it. Said it is helping her keep a positive mind set in all that she is going through.

I am reading it because of your post and it is just what I need. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm glad it is helping your mom. I am going to send it to a friend going through a difficult time as well.

I've been listening to a lot of Kpop & watching Kpop variety shows lately, so I started reading Shine (YA, book 1 of 2) by Jessica Jung (former Kpop idol).
So far it is just the fun distraction I was looking for and will read the sequel Bright, when it comes out next year.
