Favorite "songs" to exercise to

What songs do you love that you just can't help but move to or have that beat that's great to exercise to. Music can make such a huge difference in your exercise & motivation to do so. Other than itread type of music what songs get you moving, kind of like that Rocky song when he's running up those steps or in training? Here are just a few of my favorites & if you don't use them you might give them a listen & see if they will work for you.

I'm So Excited by the Pointer Sisters
Devil Inside by INXS
Most Jock Jam songs are good
Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler
and my latest addition is
I Run For Life by Melissa Etheridge

The entire CD, "Hot Fuss" by the Killers (modern music, with a nod to 80's Duran Duran, etc) makes me want to do step aerobics--it's just got the right beat. There's even a nice slow song at the end that would be perfect for a cooldown and stretch.

When I'm running/jogging to music, my musical tastes are as broad as they'll ever be. I'll listen to songs/artists I would probably eschew were I sitting down! Anything with a strong pulsating beat, pretty much...but in particular:

Queen- Another One Bites The Dust
Def Leppard- Rocket
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again
Ozzy--Iron Man

all that glam-rock/hard rock stuff of the 80s--I'm dating myself!

plus any songs that I like to listen to anyway

On the Taebo Advanced Live tapes, I particularly liked "If You Could Read My Mind" -- it made me feel mellower yet still in workout mode. And it seems like all the backup exercisers got energized when "On the Wild Side" came on.

I was just thinking of starting a thread like this. I'm working on a mental list of songs for a motivational workout playlist. I'm trying to choose songs with a good beat to keep the HR up, but also a motivational message of conquering adversity, or being the best, or just keep chugging along. Here's what I have so far:

Lose Yourself - Eminem
#1 - Nelly
All Fired Up - Pat Benetar
Can't Hold Us Down - Christina Aguilera & Lil Kim
Do Somethin' - Britney Spears
My Life - Greg Raposo
Get Free - The Vines
Metamorphosis - Hilary Duff
Ready, Steady, Go - The Meices
Invincible - Pat Benetar
Rollin' (Urban Assault Vehicle) - Limp Bizkit
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night - Bon Jovi
The Distance - Cake
The Reckoning - Boomkat

It's still a work in progress for sure, but I'm trying to get something together that I can send out to a friend to help her stay on track. We don't always have the same taste in music, she likes showtunes, I like punk, but the motivational message is there.

I will likely get committed for my exercise mix. I skip some slow songs sometimes depends on what I am doing. In a pinch I know my lifting routines so I can do them without the DVD and just to music. I have these songs on my mp3 player and I do a warm up for 5 minutes then get on the elliptical and start slower for 5 then fast pace for 20 minutes with 1 min speed intervels at every 5 minutes then cooldown on the floor for 5 minutes.

Yes I know I am weird and some of the songs are drug related and i don't do drugs. I also sing terribly and get most the words wrong any way. But that is me like it or not

Yay! I love The Go! Team. While exercising, I prefer their fast cheerleaderish type songs like Huddle Formation, Ladyflash, Bottle Rocket, and We Just Won't Be Defeated.

I love the Scissor Sisters too, especially the glam songs! Lots of energy!

When I need some fast & hard rock, I play Sleater-Kinney. The angry songs make you work harder.

I need fast songs to exercise to. My normal listening music is more toned down.
