I sometimes find yoga kind of boring, but improving my balance is never boring.

Just FYI, although Jane is a yoga instructor, the Balance DVD isn't all yoga poses. She also works on foot and ankle strength and mobility and also proprioception. She has you standing up on either side of a chair doing assorted leg and arm lifts. Then, you move up to doing them without the chair.

You can rent it at KineticFlix:

I agree wholeheartedly with everything Alta said about Jane Adams' balance DVD. I love her!

I realize it's not exactly what you're looking for, but Ellen Barrett and Sleek Technique incorporate a lot of balance work.

I recently got this DVD from a kind VFer on the Share the Wealth and I have previewed it. I am going to do it tomorrow and I will report back. The preview looked promising.

Born to Balance -- Balance Basis by T. Jacob Felder. It is on Amazon with a few reviews, but my cell phone won't show me the link.

The intro is about 6 minutes; for the nx segment he breaks apart the routine into separate Balance exercises for 36 minutes and than you do the whole routine for 12 minutes.

I also wholeheartedly agree with Karen and Alta about Jane Adams' Balance DVD. Nice, outdoor setting. Excellent cuing and she explains why the moves are important to balance in our daily lives. There's a lot on this DVD; you get a lot of bang for your buck! (Jane's other DVDs are also excellent, but I know you're just focusing on balance here.) The only thing I take issue with is the title. It's not just for seniors.

And she uses ridiculously bad grammar.

Looks like I'll have to give that one a try!

Looking through my DVDs I discovered I have Lower Body Chi for beginners - I am watching this and it looks like a great practice for developing balance - I think I'll try this before I buy anything else. Even the basic Tai Chi walk is challenging!
