Pilates has helped a lot. And I REALLY like the balance segment from Kathy Smith's Total Body Turnaround. It's a 20 minute workout that moves quickly.

I love the wave and the Skills, Drills and Thrills dvd from The FIRM. Also the ZIP Trainer. I noticed a lot of change in my balance incorporating those!

I have pretty good balance but I practice balance moves even when not doing traditional exercise. Use it or lose it. For example during staff meetings I typically stand. I lift one foot off the ground and hold it for as long as possible then switch. I think it is important to work on this as you age.
I also agree with the tai chi recommendation. I take both tai chi and kung fu classes and it really helps my balance "practice." |
