I too thought the rotation as scheduled was overkill. Instead, I've been doing two to three H&C workouts per week, shoehorned into my regular workout week and that approach has worked great for me. No soreness issues, I'm stronger and there are nice cosmetic improvements too.

My gripes with the set:
  1. The cooldowns and warm-ups are inadequate and there are no recovery or flexibility workouts. I have no problem adding my own in, it just seems odd not to have at least one flexibility workout when you produce a series that is supposed to be used as a self-contained set.
  2. Next criticism is that if you follow the rotation exactly as presented you are sometimes doing hard strength workout days back-to-back -- pull-ups and leg work galore. I don't know if there is some theory behind this or if it's just poor planning.
  3. Last gripe is kind of related to gripe #1: they push their whole (overpriced) Shakeology system way too hard. The one that really got to me was Chisel Iso Strength: there was no stretch at all at the end because Autumn was in such a rush to go drink her recovery drink. Sometimes I really miss the Mr Rolleyes icon.)
Things I like:
  1. The workouts! Each one is a little gem. They are all short 30-40 minute total body workouts, but not easy. I am much stronger and can do things like one minute of push-ups on my toes now that I could not do before. There are definite cosmetic changes too: my legs look great and even my triceps (my weak spot) have tightened up and look noticeably better.
  2. The variety - when Sagi gets on my nerves, I go to Autumn. Sagi and Autumn have very different personalities. Sagi is just a little cartoonish and I can't take him too seriously, but he doesn't seem to take himself seriously either. Too much Autumn gets on my nerves too.
  3. When I want heavy - these workouts will go HEAVY. But the hardest workout in the whole set for me was the one with the lightest weights - Chisel Iso Strength.
  4. If I want sports training, there are great "conditioning" and "balance" and "cardio" workouts that are terrific for sports training. (And hard.)
  5. Equipment - All you need are dumbbells, a band, a pull-up bar or the thing-y you stick in the door, a mat and a bench (I use my step at 14" and I have slanted risers if I need to put it on an incline.)

Other:
I wasn't trying to lose weight with H&C, but have dropped a couple of pounds anyway.

I still like Sagi and struggle with Autumn.

That said, I got tired of both of them and pushed play with Bodypump 96. Really enjoyed the workout.

Perfectly said Daphne! It really is a GREAT set of workouts but not necessarily in the sequence suggested in the rotation guide.

But there have been some amazing results from people who have completely followed the plan & rotation as it's laid out which might mean there is a method to the madness, lol. I wish my knees weren't so old and cranky....grrrrr.

I am on week 7 and will see the rotation through even though mentally it goes against my thoughts on muscle rest/recovery. I've decided to trust the process and that there is a method to their madness. I have tightened up some but sore most days lately (am adding in some HiiT Cardio 3-4 days a week and also some yoga). But I do feel like I am holding on to a few pounds that will hopefully "release" once I get back to a more balanced rotation that alternates in more cardio and rotates muscle groups more evenly with proper rest time.

I won't do this rotation as laid out again but will use the workouts. I think it may be a good mix with an Insanity Max 30 which has the cardio but not the weights. But I am looking forward to getting to other workouts first so H&C will go on the shelf for a bit after next week.

I have yet to do my Hammer and Chisel workouts.. but this sounds like a good mix of H&C and Max 30.. Thanks!

Is there a music off option on this set?

I don't think so, but I'll be honest, I don't even notice the music when I'm doing them.
