calories burned for different activities?

Hi everybody,

I just bought the PC version of FitDay, and am trying to be better about logging my foods and activities.

Does anybody know of a website that shows calories burned for different types of activities - you know, spinning vs. jogging vs. power yoga? What FitDay has in its database is pretty general. Specifically, I'd really like to be able to count 90 minutes of power yoga as something other that stretching. But I'm sure as I continue to use it, more information on other fitness activities will come in handy.

thanks for your help, everybody have a terrific holiday weekend!

Katie

I found this one: http://www.justmove.org/fitnessnews/...oriechart.html and several others by doing a web search for "calorie activity." Looks like "calorie calculator" would be another good search term.

I know there is a more complete site that shows calorie expenditures for all sorts of activities, like "policework, sitting in squad car" vs. "policework: chasing suspect" and things to that effect.

Thanks Kathryn - you're smart! I was searching on stuff like "calories burned," and it just wasn't working for me.

Katie,

Try this one -- http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html -- it even takes into account your statistics.

Hey~
There is a really neat "Health Calculator" on the Diet&fitness page at www.ivillage.com . It provides lots of info, including your specific calorie burn for lots of activities (it uses data collected about your size and lifestyle, and appears pretty accurate).
Happy thoughts,
Laura
