Downloading video files and burning them to dvdr is a hassle.

If you want to watch youtube videos on a HDTV without a HDmi cable, just get the cheapest ROKU or a Chromecast device.
No need to waste money on another dvd player or blank dvds.
Either device will stream much more than just youtube.
I now store and play downloaded files from hard drives or flash drives.
No more dvds or dvd players needed.
Saves time and money.

Edited to add: if you have a Smart phone, I would choose Chromecast
Otherwise, ROKU.

The least technical way is to just get a HDMI cable and hook up your laptop to the TV.

This is what I do. The downside is I can't stop and re-start the video using a remote.

I can pause and play with my smartphone with either the ROKU which does have its own remote or the Chromecast which also responds to the TV remote.
Each device cost less than $30 and turned 2 dumb TVs into smart TVs.

Burning a dvdr has always been a hassle and there are lots of hidden obstacles.
We cannot assume what devices a person already has.
Freemake used to be Windows only.
Not all pc or laptops have an optical drive that can burn dvds.
Downloading software is constantly changing and what will work today, may not tomorrow,
Smart tvs do become outdated as well.
Why limit yourself to a few youtube downloads when you can have it all?

I downloaded some Jessica Smith you tube videos a few years ago. What I discovered is that the videos fade after about a year. The quality erodes on the DVD’s over time. So, I stream you tube on my tv with a Roku or use my laptop.

However, I have pretty good internet. I can understand that it would be difficult without that.
