I did barre for a long time, and I really enjoy Tracey Mallett's Booty Barre for Beginners. It's a nice length and intensity, and I used it quite a bit even after feeling advanced in barre. HTH

Well if you are a barre beginner I think learning proper form and technique is just as important as appropriate intensity. I think several Bar Method fit the bill, including the older Change Your Body, Accelerated Workout and Beginner's Workout (though I haven't tried the latter). Core Fusion DVDs are another excellent option for learning form. Their 30-Day Sculpt is a great deal.

LOL, here's the similarly titled thread you started in October.
I'll second my recommendation from then: Bar Method (I love Change Your Body). But their Beginner's workout is pretty good, plus it's short.

The Dailey Method's No Excuses is awesome for teaching proper form for barre.

Hey GG! I almost mentioned that one... but the workout actually slays me (and I like to think I'm not a beginner... protecting my ego here). It would be an amazing option to grow with.

Hey fuzzie! I think if you use all the modifications and take breaks, it still has good potential for beginners. I love that it has the potential to slay you at any level! (slay you in a loving, gentle way, of course)

That's too funny. There are already a lot of good recs there! I usually don't respond to barre threads anymore so didn't notice it was a repeat.

You realize how weird that sounds, don't you? Seriously, I totally agree and I think it's one of the best barre DVD out there. I finally received the newest one yesterday... woohoo!

The classic Bar Methods: Designer Sculpting and Fat Free with Burr.
Tracey Malletts Booty Barre Beginner is nice, too.

Any barre can be made easier or harder by going lower or lifting higher (or not going low or lifting as high), by taking breaks or not taking breaks, by balancing or holding to a balance. This flexibility is one of the things I love about them. Still, ultimately, I recommend Burr because of her form pointers and modest intensity (plus her proven track record) .
