Sweating is similar to heart rate in the sense that there is a genetic component to it. People who have more slow twitch fibers (as opposed to fast twitch) tend to sweat more because slow twitch have more mitochondria and work more aerobically. While you can reduce your resting HR with exercise, you can increase your ability to sweat using exercise. This is a slow adaptation and requires training muscles with very high reps. This type of training increases the mitochondrial number in the trained muscles and increases mitochondrial proteins which uncouple fuel burning from ATP production channelling the excess into heat. The body sweats to get rid of the excess heat. The end result is why we burn more calories doing the same exercise when the muscles are well trained. This type of training also leads to an increase in the number of calories that are burned at rest because the mitochondria never stops working completely. Healthwise, this adaptation is by far the most important in terms of reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and various chronic diseases.
I love this degree of detail, and love learning things every day!

*face palm*

well..... I now know exactly my pattern of sweating . At least for upper body

ya see, I dyed my hair violet (starts out navy blue, trends to violet for about a month than fades to a lovely denim blue).
before I rinsed they dye out I was thinking "huh, if I'm going to shower in a bit anyway I'll just rinse it out in the shower"

that would have been bad enough

then I decided to try a nice short step interval work out

'kay
runnels of blue sweat around my hairline, down my chin, around my neck and a really rich violet blue pool between the breasts

guess what!

it didn't wash off my skin in the shower

SIGH

I am now a perfect map of my sweat patterns
It looks like a smurf was murdered in my shower
and I'm tinted bluish all over

Oh no NoraKate!

I bet it'll come off soon, though. And if not, I'm sure you'll rock the look--it could be the next new thing!

I was just thinking about this last night after doing Hardcore Extreme #1 (Cathe) and saw how much I was dripping. I only drip and look like I took a swim when I work out with Cathe or Slywia...everybody else the sweat is not as bad (not close to it), but I do sweat. My friends tell me Shaun T will have me drenched, but I haven't tried him out yet.

Uh oh! Sounds... colorful.
Hopefully it'll wash out within a few good scrubby showers.

It's not that noticeable ... looks kind of artsy.

And at least you came by it through hard work!
