Me again....
just adding that I adore all 3 Squeeze workouts. There are by far my favorites of the "fusion" workouts. Tracy Effinger is such a wonderful instructor and she does a great job hitting all of the lower body muscles. But, they do not make your legs smaller unless you do them too often. They are muscle endurance workouts, so unlike CLX, you will not add much muscle or gain much strength. You will create metabolic changes in the muscle cells that complement doing heavy programs like CLX. A program of Squeeze and loads of cardio is a good leaning rotation (IMHO), but it is no better for fat loss than the lean phase of CLX with some added cardio. It depends on your taste. For mixing things up after CLX, a Squeeze rotation would be excellent, but is not going to lean out your legs unless you lose bodyfat or muscle. HTH Deb |

OK, I just watched clips of Squeeze on Collage Video and I want to try it! They don't seem to be available on Netflix. Are any of these on exercise TV on demand? I'm not sure I want to pay $19.95 for a workout I've never tried, but if I did, are they available at Target?

Deb,
What do you think? If I want to get leaner, with muscle, not bulk, should I be training the same muscles consecutively? I know when bodybuilders workout out to get bigger, they rest for days before retraining the same part so that the tears can heal. If I don't allow the rest, does that make it better for tightening up without getting bigger? I already know it is necessary to burn fat off with cardio and I've been doing this with some great bootcamp style moves, rebounding, and kettlebells. I honestly prefer Tracy Effinger to Tracy Anderson, however, TA said that you should do her stuff every day. Is that for the reason above about not letting the muscles get bigger by repairing? In the past I always let my muscles have a rest day, now I'm not positive which is the better way for me since I tend to develop larger muscles and bulk in my arms. Any ideas on this? Thanks, Kelly |

This made me suddenly remember that when I did The Firm 90-Day rotation using heavy weights six-days per week I did get bigger. There was no time for muscle repair so it's puzzling. Yet for nearly a year I've been doing Margaret Richard and other low weight or body weight workouts, doing walking every other day and nothing else, and I haven't gotten any bigger. Smaller and more defined, even with every other day for muscle repair. I must be a medical anomaly!

THANKS DEB,
I know. It seems like we, well people like me, always want exercise to be the magic bullet that can make our body look a certain way etc, but I KNOW that in order to get what I want I need to eat clean clean clean and I will be there. It is just so hard to do I am just starting the lean phase and I am excited about what I might see this month but I am also really going to get strict with the clean eating because I know that if I don't, I won't want to wear the string bikini that I have been eyeing in the Athleta catalog. If I really love it, I may even continue the lean phase for 2 extra weeks or so, then I might try a Squeeze rotation to mix things up. WHen you say add a lot of cardio to a squeeze rotation, like how much are you talking about??? |

Your nutrition really does account for about 80% of your results when it comes to losing bodyfat. Pin the photo of the bikini up in your kitchen, your workout room and anywhere else it may inspire you! I know it sounds wacky, but it works for me to do things like that. (I am worse though....I BUY the bikini and hang it up in front of me!!!!!! ) I add a fair amount of cardio to a leaning rotation, but I know that people respond differently. I would recommend (in general) that you do cardio 5-6 day a week for at least 30-45 minutes if you really want to lean out. A "trick" that works for me is to split cardio into two shorter (20-30 minute) segments per day. It is a huge commitment and I only do it the week before a vacation or sometning of that nature. One session in the AM on an empty stomach and one 3 hours before bed (no food after the evening session with the exception of a carb free whey protein isolate shake if you use those) really fires up my metabolism! I don't know how you respond so I would not want to make spoecific recommendations unless I was training you in "real life". Some people do better with longer lower intensity cardio, others with HIIT, others with making sure to mix things up. Look at your history and see if you can determine how your body responds to the cardio variables: frequency, intensity, type (F.I.T.), timing and duration. Good luck. You can do it!!!! Deb |
