dropbox storage question and annoying emails from them

Hi - i think this is a relevant question if people store their workout videos to dropbox.

Question: Do you receive emails that your Dropbox storage is close to exceeding the limit?

i started getting these emails over the past year and recently went into my account to see what i could clean up.

turns out that i have nothing automatically being saved to that storage, in fact the last thing i uploaded was in 2016! i realize it's a trick to get you to buy more storage - i have the free account.

grrrr......

personally, i get more storage from my free Google drive account. I have mostly PDFs and photos stored in my Google drive and i have never gotten an email or message saying it was getting full and that i need to upgrade!

I get those messages too. I also don't use them for storing recent documents, etc. and did clean up some old stuff that is so old I can't access them using current technology (ancient Lotus 1-2-3 files).

I agree that they are looking to you to upgrade for more storage that you would have to pay for (I also have the free account, at least at this point). I wonder if they are going to discontinue offering the free accounts??

I know nothing about their business so this is coming out of left field, but another alternative is that they may go out of business because it's hard to compete with google. I get the emails. I had a paid account for a while but let it lapse -- I really didn't use it/need it. I just ignore them.
