Work It Total Body Circuit!

Hi Ladies,

I'm a bit behind on this weeks Strong + Centered rotation, but back at it again this morning. Today I did the 48 minute circuit and liked it, after not expecting to do so. Jessica honestly makes this whole set so pleasant and I appreciated the variety of exercises here, along with the same beautiful, bright set.

I've had a number of issues this week, physically. So, was not going to tackle the above workout until I felt decent again, lol. I modified some and had to go lighter with the weight when it came to shoulder stuff. I also shortened some of the core work or changed it up to suit me and I was satisfied with what I had done! I posted my general thoughts in the GD forum, but didn't break the exercise down in any way. Overall a very good workout, but maybe not the perfect workout to use (as intended) each time it comes up in the rotation. I'd love a 30 minute format done at the same pace as the 48 one, so I intend to shorten it by reducing the number of reps, circuits or exercises to suit me. I also don't feel like i need to do the longer walks...every...single...time. And, I know I'll be irritated again by not having a countdown clock or timer! How this was such an oversight, I'll never know. But (when I work out with Jessica) I do feel very blessed to be able to do so and the fact that she's been willing to produce these workouts on DVD, makes me very happy! Her sales on Amazon must be pretty great, I would think. Or, will be even better as more stock becomes available. I'm betting I'll like the shorter 30 minute circuit....because it's shorter...and glad Jessica provided that option for us!

I was busy the past few days and missed a couple of workouts, but yesterday I did Total Body 31. I liked it, but Jessica's workout have too many lunges that bother my knees, so I'm going to have to find a substitute or skip those. Today is an optional movement day, so I'm going to go out for a walk in a bit and do something else later.

Pam, I'm anxious to try the circuit workouts in this set. Tomorrow is a rest day, but I may do it that day instead of waiting until the next day.

Gotta run to a meeting!

Hi!

I was not up to facing Jessica's 45 minute lower body workout today - so I substituted. I am sure I'll do this one eventually but I need to build up the courage and also try it after a good night of sleep - which is pretty rare for me these days - between working late and my elderly dog who needs to go out in the night --- ugh.

So, I did instead:

Lucy Wyndham Read - 7 Min Lower Body Workout - Legs & Glutes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJz4pyszNUQ

Jessica Valent Pilates - 10 Min Leg Workout w/ Weights - the basics
Jessica Valent Pilates - Workout for Stronger Hips (floorwork/PT/Pilates)

Waves, everyone!

Hi Ladies,

Posting quickly today....as I'm heading out the door.

Tried Jessica's Total Body Strength Band workout and liked it at only 28 minutes in length. I needed something fast today, and this was just the ticket. Funny, I didn't see it on the rotation schedule, but I'd already done the Fusion Flow Gliding workout last week, so skipped it today. I do really like them, just needed quick.

I must have zoned out during this workout as I was looking at Jessica's wrinkled blue top. She is so sweet (and with a young little one) she's got more important things to worry about besides attire, lol!

Have a good one!

Hi Everyone,

Let's see..where did I leave off....

- yesterday I walked my Golden in the evening - it was really nice outside - perfect weather

- I added on a Yoga w/ Adriene for hips - it was a 20 min practice and one of her newer uploads. I used to do her yoga almost exclusively and moved away from it for some reason. I am still not sure why! LOL!

This morning I did the 28 Min Band workout from Jessica's new DVD set - it is the strength training DVD. The "schedule" called for her upper body workout - but I am generally not a fan of splits and since I missed the lower body split yesterday I figured I'd miss the upper body today! I did enjoy this band workout - it is a total body routine. Very well done - pretty much hits everything and feels good - just enough w/out over doing.

Pam - I enjoyed the workout w/ the band, too! I am definitely going to finish at least the 4 weeks of the rotation and I may continue until work starts on my hall bath - then I'll probably have to focus more on short workouts.

Sherry - how are you feeling?

wishiwasinhawaii - I have noticed a lot of lunges, too!

waves, Liz!

I also liked that the band work was pretty minimal (on the floor) compared to the standing portions of the workout. The flow of this one was pretty good, and I like to work the muscles differently, instead of using weights all the time!

I am enjoying the rotation, especially since I can't do a lot of treadmill walks right now. My plantar fasciitis has really been bothering me the last few weeks and I can't do a lot of standing. But, I will also have to shorten some of these as our summers (and weekends) are getting busier and busier.

Here in RI, we celebrated the 250th Anniversary of " the Burning of the Gaspee" in 1772. DH and I were out all day, going to exhibits at the John Brown House, the RI State Archives, traveling to Gaspee point (where the burning of the ship took place) among other things.

I do a little stretching in the morning, to keep the stiffness and soreness away. My activity lately is light housework in the mornings, and taking care of our cats. In the afternoons, I mostly rest.

Today I go two hours south to Tucson to see my TMJ specialist. I pick up my new mouth guards. My daughter is driving me.

Donna, it's ups and downs. Some days it feels better, some days worse. A lot of it has to do with not having properly fitting mouth guards. I'm hoping after today that will be resolved. I think the medication is helping to minimize the pain, but not enough to resume normal activities. Thanks for asking.

Pam, that was really interesting history. There is a lot about American history that I don't know!

Sherry, hope your trip to Tucson went well! I bet the desert is beautiful this time of year! I need to do more stretching than I'm currently doing. It's hard to fit everything in, even with normal daily activities. My house and cats need my attention...along with DH, too! ;-)

Donna, I'm thinking of only doing 4 weeks of Jessica's rotation and just adding her other workouts in between other stuff. I'm starting another iFIT challenge on the 15th, so hope I can get back on the treadmill by then. So only one day per week of each (strength, fusion, stretch) with treadmill or hike.

Back to check-in....later.

Split Sessions Upper Body+ Bonus Core!

Today I did both the Upper Body and Bonus Core workouts from the Split Sessions DVD. I liked them, but went on the lighter side for shoulder work. Core workout had some nice instrumental music. Upon preview of the Lower Body, I think I will like that one more, even though it's the longest one on the DVD. Jessica was good in these. Some unique exercises using small step platform for shoulder work.

Have a good weekend!

The mouth guards worked well last night. I also wear one during the day. It did reduce the TMJ pain quite a bit. I think the medicine is reducing the nerve pain in the gums where the tooth was extracted. I was practically pain free this morning. However, I sat on the couch and took a nap, and the TMJ pain started again in the back molars. Certain positions aggravate it. The mouth guards should heal the TMJ, but it will take a few weeks, most likely. I didn't have TMJ pain before this, but sleeping differently and clenching from the pain started that up. One thing leads to another with this kind of stuff. But I'm seeing some progress, so that's heartening.

Pam, my dh has to take care of himself quite a bit now! But he's adjusting pretty well. I still take care of the cats, laundry and some of the housework. It at least keeps me active a bit.
