Any tricks for learning CS?

I just finished yet another Miranda-led CS Episode (1107) that left me scratching my head. Don’t get me wrong, I feel great when I’m finished, but I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what she was doing (and not saying) and half the time my limbs weren’t anywhere near where they were supposed to be or she had moved on and I hadn’t. Other than repetition, any tips for getting in the CS groove?

I do have to give them major kudos for the subtitles/captioning. I need them and so few exercise videos have them. Thanks, CS!

Hi Deb,

There does seem to be a learning curve with Essentrics/CS. Check out these videos at essentrics.com....scroll down to "am I doing this right?".

I would do some of Sahra’s. I learned from her and took it from there. I made doing Amanda’s so much easier to figure out.

Lol Deb, I love Miranda, she’s brilliant, but her chattiness often gets in the way of her cuing. I’d suggest a subscription to ETV, they do have a free trial and there’s lots of good content with a variety of excellent instructors. The newer Essentrics DVDs like the Stretch Series or Body Sculpting Series 2 are very good too. They are taught by her daughter Sahra or the other instructors & the cuing is detailed and spot on. All the Essentrics DVDs are on ETV as well so you can try before you buy.

Is it better to just take a season and work in order or mix and match?

If I am doing a Season I pick one and go one by one. Otherwise I will do all standing and no floorwork. Now I am watching it on my local PBS station so it's easy. Whatever is on that's what I do.

I had borrowed Miranda's books from the library. She has great descriptions for the common exercises in her videos. I found them to be very helpful!

i listened to the audio versions of these, free from the library's OverDrive app. i agree.

i admit that i had disliked the first Miranda that i had tried, but liked Sahra's videos. after listening to the audio versions of her books, and reading VF forum for suggestions, i did season 4. having studied the books somehow puts you into the right mindset on the theory of how her workouts are. somehow it just clicked after i listened to the books.

i think having studied other authors/instructors suggestions on form and anatomy (Paul Grilley is another good one) helped improve my approach to workouts.
