Getting to Know You! (Fall Edition)

It's been a while since I started one of these threads. Figured it is a good time for one of them. Answer whichever of the questions below you want:

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area?

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall?

1. What is your favorite thing about fall? I enjoy the cooler, but not cold temperatures. And I like seeing color in the trees.

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall? I like maple products in the fall. Unfortunately, pumpkin spice has taken over the market and there aren't many these days.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area? I'm in North Carolina where temperatures moderate, but don't really get cold during this time. It's a nice time of year.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall? When DH and I go walking, we don't have to go early in the morning to avoid the heat. And I can do some more intense workouts when it's not so very hot.

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?
Not sweating like crazy when I go outside. The reduction in humidity! Halloween costume crafting. Jeans! THE STATE FAIR! (sadly, not this year). Taking my kids to the pumpkin farm. Campfire smoke. I love fall!

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?
I'm not a fan of pumpkin spice...but I do love caramel apple ciders! Cranberry-apple crisp. Cinnamon things.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area? Anywhere from the 40s to mid-80s, lol. It is my season of being perpetually over or under dressed for the temp. Layers are key.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall? Leaf raking -- not my fave, lol.

Hi Laura! Lovely idea.
I'm not sure, however, which way to go - I'm not in Autumn, but Spring....

1. What is your favourite thing about Autumn/Spring?
Autumn - crisp mornings, cool in the shade but warm in the sun.
Spring - the abundance of flowers, especially grevillea & the smells in the air.

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in Autumn/Spring?
Autumn - starting to look forward to casseroles & soups.
Spring - looking forward to the heat curbing my appetite.

3. What is the weather like between September & December in your area?
Min 12-16C (54-61F)
Max 24-34C (75-93F), with occasional days up to 40C (104F)
Moderately humid days, broken by a thunderstorm coming from the south - the "southerly buster"
The last 2 weeks have had STUNNING weather - perfect for outdoor holiday season.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the Autumn/Spring?
Where I live has a very mild climate - even frosts are unheard of & only installed air/con a few years ago, in just one room; so fitness activities aren't driven by the weather much at all; just shift to earlier (still warmish) in the winter & later (around dusk) in the summer for walking the dog is about it.

I always look forward to this thread

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?

The weather! I absolutely come alive in the fall, like most people come alive in the spring.

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?

Comfort food . I reserve most of my southern, down home food for the fall. Lots of cakes, bakes, cheese, etc.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area?

Cool then cold. There could be snow. I'm in NJ

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall?

Usually, I reserve my tough Cathe workouts for the fall/winter. I feel out of place without Cathe. This year, I'm trying Ilaria workouts and will ease into kettlebells and long yoga.

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?

The quality of light changes. Light seems to radiate from things instead of off of things.

Also, and this is absolutely wonderful, I don't have to worry about rattlesnakes in the morning (well, soon I won't have to worry about rattlesnakes in the morning--as soon as the overnight low drops below 60).

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?

Where I live, there's no real change in available local produce, so my diet doesn't really change except I do make soup more often.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area?

The soul-crushing heat abates. We still have warm days up until sometime around Thanksgiving, and cool nights. Lots of sunshine. We usually get some colder weather and rain near the end of November, and if we are very lucky, rain in December.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall?

I spend more time outside, and I used to take my dog on longer walks, but I have a new neighbor up the street (about 3/4ths of a mile) whose huge pit bull mixes often jump her fence. They really aren't dangerous dogs, but my 15 pound chihuahua mix goes into attack mode in his desire to protect me. I had ONE scary experience where I had to grab Jiminy by his hind legs, then throw rocks to get the dogs to leave us alone. I screamed for help for five minutes before my neighbor's neighbor came out and got the dogs back in their yard so I could go home.

So I'm not taking my dog on longer walks, but he and I are spending more time exploring my acre and a half of unreclaimed desert.

Fun thread!

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?

The high temps drop below triple digits, and the lows are in the high 60's. The weather is dry, so I find it really comfortable. I love that I can start walking or riding my bike in the mornings. I can sit out on my patio again. It's the start of being able to go outside again after the hot summer.

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?

The pumpkin bread mix from Trader Joe's.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area?

September is still in the low 100's, October 80-90, but by December highs should be in the 60's-70's. Well, normally. The weather has been ten degrees hotter than usual this year.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall?

Biking outdoors. I don't ride my bike much in the summer.

1. What is your favorite thing about fall?
Taking long walks with my dogs. It is cool enough that they want to explore more so we can log more steps.

2. What do you like to eat and/or drink in the fall?
When it turns cooler I like to bake and cook soups. I try new bread and soup recipes which is a fave of my dh.

3. What is the weather like between September and December in your area?
Cooler temps to cold in late November/December. We usually get some type of snow around December 1st.

4. What new fitness activity do you try in the fall?
Since it isn't so hot I try to do tougher workouts both weights and cardio. Plus I'm always doing yard work in the fall and raking lots of leaves.
