Run walk in Portugal.. DONE!
Callanetics Pure.. DONE!

This run was fun! 1 minutes run with 1 minute walk. I did 5mph on the run, and 3.3 on the walks. Overall, I went 2.11 miles with him, and .54 on the cool down, so a grand total of 2.65 miles! I am getting closer to the 3 mile mark! I love that.

The incline was small too, so it was a fairly easy jog. Today I looked at the program, and suddenly we go to FOUR minute jogs and one minute walk. Seems like a big jump! However, I will keep the speed low and I should be fine. It's interesting seeing how this is structured. It's all a program... so a pre-set training program to get me into jogging again. There's a whole series, which I will probably follow. The end of this one gets me to jogging for 30 minutes straight (so a time goal). There are about 5, I think, series within the series and each one has a specific goal. The first big goal is a 5k, the next big goal is a 10k. So the 5 training series get you to those goals. It's interesting! I love this trainer though. He is teaching me so much. I am learning a bunch about the ocean!

Yesterday I did Callanetics. I liked it... but it didn't feel very tough. She only did one exercise for the triceps, and although we didn't sit around a lot, I'm not sure what we did for the 54 minutes of the workout. We were moving, but I didn't feel like we did many exercises or covered too intensely any one body part. Well, they did a full ab series, so I think the abs were covered pretty well. However, I don't know. The arms were not very covered, so the legs must have been what we spent the remainder of the time on. I don't feel especially worked out so I am just thinking???

It did trigger to me that I have a bunch of Callanetics on a thumb drive, I don't remember the circumstances of getting them, I think someone posted them on YouTube. They are a bunch off of their streaming site, and look really good. I. remember I used to do them and enjoy them. When I moved from working out on my computer to working out on the TV with a DVD player, I stopped doing my thumb drive workouts. I had no way to play them on the TV. I might drag my computer out and do some of them! I also have a ton of barre3 from their streaming site too. I need to do those too! So many workouts! I love it!

Ebianco: I got the zzzquil pills last time LB and I were at Walmart. Holy cow! I am sleeping 8 hours a night! Like a champ! I love it. I am not tired at all during the day. Plus, if I am not tired as I go to bed (which is also a WOW to me! I usually am so tired I am snappy with LB) I don't lay there long to fall asleep. the pills seem more effective than the liquid! I am a bit annoyed with sleeping so much, because I don't have the time in the morning to myself, however I am so happy to get the sleep! Sleep is such a stress for me. It's nice that I'm not stressed over it, after over 20 years of stressing about it! I hope I don't get used to them and the become less effective. I am also glad to not worry about our schedule during the day, and how tired I will be during it!!! So nice.

I hope your sister is continuing to improve! I am still praying for her!

Eventmom: I cracked up that you "oversold" the device. I still think it's interesting! Wow, even with that thing you are out there 9 times a day. What would you do if you had to work 8 hour shifts, plus an hour lunch, plus commute to and from.... I always wonder that. The vet tells us to do something for the dog, and I always think, there are people who are gone 10 or 11 hours a day with work, how do they do that!???!?? I remember having jobs close enough to home (I always tried to work close to home) where I could run home on lunch to treat my bunnies, and my commute time was short. However, I know I'm in the minority, and people work so far from home anymore. Actually, it's kinda funny how people seem to either work really far from home, or work from home. What a world we live in. I do like the work from home that has become more common though!

Saturday - TA goop + kathy smith power push
Sunday - TA goop + DC 1.2
Monday - TA good + charlene episode
Today - sue west seasons of fitness as my stretch day

buzzer - I think that what happens with vet stuff for horses is either the horse stays at the clinic for x days until the medicine can be less frequent, or you and the vet discuss how to modify the schedule so that you can stretch it out when needed. So tippy had surgery thursday - take friday off do all the meds sat/sun then maybe back off so that you do it before work, lunch break, after work. I've done that. Anyway, I've never been in a every 2 hours mode before - every 6 sure. but this is extreme. yeah, remote work options really help out for certain things. I forgot about callentics pure - I have 30 day count down and express that is enough for me, I don't love Lacy. Oh, I've also got callanetics evolution

ebianco - I hope that your sister continues to respond to the treatment and that you and your family are coping well.

Squeeze Stronger upper body and waist.. DONE!

I was going to run on the treadmill, however it drives me insane sometimes. The power had gone out, so it resets itself then gets stuck in this loop. So we have to reset it with a paperclip while turning it on with our foot... then it "erases" and you have to re-log in. Well after you re-log in, it looks for updates..... then updates... so after I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for the treadmill, I finally just went inside and did Squeeze Stronger. I just didn't have time to kill yesterday. So today I will do my 4 minute run/1 minute walk!

I chose the upper body since it was close to Wednesday, and I didn't get any upper body with Callanetics. I really, really liked this workout! It was great for the upper body! I used 5's, however my shoulders were tired and one was kinda hurting by the time I got to the chest work. She has you stand and move your arms in and out and cross over your chest for chest work. My shoulders were feeling it, so I thought about going down in weight. Instead, I went up in weight (to 8's) and did the whole chest laying on my back. It worked just fine. I probably could have gone up in weight, however the moves are quick and I don't want to hurt my shoulders any more than I already do. So I went with 8's.

This workout is so much fun! She is absolutely GORGEOUS! I forgot how amazing she looks. My waist is feeling it in all the places it should too. I was thinking with these kickbacks that my glutes would feel it, however my low back was feeling it just like it was supposed to so that was good. I definitely feel worked out!

She did say that to lose the weight do cardio and diet, to get the muscle do the weights. That stuck with me because I have upped my cardio with the treadmill, so maybe I am on the right track. I don't know. I am hoping so! I just can't seem to stop the weight from piling on. I swear I look like I did when I was 8 months pregnant with swelling from pre-eclampsia.

Anyhow, I got in a great workout, it was only 35 minutes, and today I will do the treadmill workout.

Lb wasn't feeling good last night, so I'm gonna have to see how she feels today and decide if we are going to CC and violin group or not. I didn't take any sleepy pills last night in case she needed me, so I slept horrible. I slept a total of 4 1/2 hours. I woke up at 3am, tossed and turned a bit, checked on LB, and decided to take a swig of zzzquil from the bottle. I did, but it didn't knock me out. I didn't want to take more then end up sleeping until 10 or 11am. So I just got up. Hopefully I don't have too rough of a day! LB didn't need me through the night, however I am Ok with that since if she would have, I am very hard to wake up when I am on sleepy pills. So it was a trade-off for the night.

Eventmom: I got Callanetics Pure from you! It still has your notes in it it's good, but not great. I don't mind Lacy, she seems nice. I just didn't like that it didn't have more arms! Good for a light day though. I always need workouts for light days.

Ebianco: I hope things are still going well! I was thinking about your husband's heart attack yesterday. That's so scary still. How is he doing? is everything back to normal? I am just hearing of so many heart issues lately! I never thought much about it before. I guess my frame of reference was always Grandparents that it happened to, so I wasn't too worried. But more and more I am hearing of younger and younger people with heart issues, and it had me thinking about it. I know a few people who have been diagnosed with heart issues lately, and I am so grateful they didn't have the big scare like you and your DH did! I hope he is doing well, and you are too!!

So the big snow we were supposed to have didn't materialize, however I have heard it's supposed to be very cold this weekend. I don't mind cold with snow, however just cold I don't like at all!!

TA goop + kathy smith cardio from her menopause dvd

buzzer - LOL on pure callanetics! I thought I'd had it at some point. I recall it was marketed as an updated version of the original workout but just fell short on that to me so I never clicked with it. I have all the squeeze workouts! I really like her but haven't pulled them out in forever. I think she has given up teaching/training fitness and focuses on her art now. Sorry about the crap sleep - it sucks I know!

hi ebianco - hope you and your family are doing okay!

Hi everyone,

I finished my workout week on Sunday with Epic 3 Day 5, HIIT (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL05...XjuFXy&index=6) which went pretty well considering I hadn't done HIIT for several weeks since I finished Epic Heat. I was a little sluggish at first but I really got my momentum by the end.

Two rest days and today I started again with Epic 3 Day 6, back/core/biceps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46cY...XjuFXy&index=7) and there was a LOT of back work, in fact I skipped one of the MANY sets of rows to slightly shorten the workout to 32 minutes from about 37 to keep in my timeframe. So challenging! then lots of planks and some prone abs for the core section, then tough biceps. I was really sweating today! Today was a "I REALLY, REALLY don't feel like working out" day and it turned into an awesome workout day.

Aside from eating poorly last night, I then found out that my sister, who I was so thrilled came home from the hospital on Sunday, was again in bad condition and is now at a closer by hospital. To backtrack a little, last Sunday my sister and I, and her boyfriend and my DH, went to her house when she arrived from the hospital to help her move beds around, putting a bed for instance on the main floor so she wouldn't have to take stairs. Everybody felt fine at the time, but the next day my sister's boyfriend became sick and test confirmed it was Covid. Neither my sister or I have it, but now we've been asked to stay away out of caution that we might have contracted it (because all of us of course don't want my sister with cancer to get sick, especially as she is going through chemo and her immunity is down). Since she is stable and seems okay for now, I am staying back at home. Unfortunately her son who is her main caretaker, also became sick with Covid after the visit Sunday. It sounds like he is very sick, so he is also staying home while my other sister (a third sister that was not there Sunday and isn't sick) and my parents are at the hospital. It is a crazy mess.

On the plus side, no more 500 error...

Eventmom and Buzzer I have done Callanetics Pure and agree it seems to be mostly abs more than anything. I like Callanetics Extreme (both with Lacey) better. I will say all of the Lacey led Callanetics workouts seem to be at least 50% abs it seems.

Thank you both for your continued positive thoughts to my sister. They admitted her to the hospital to make her more comfortable (from swelling and nausea) but seems that the chemo continues to seem effective on the cancer front.

Eventmom it seems like you most love that goop TA workout, that's awesome!

Buzzer great job keeping up with your run/walking and yes that Squeeze Stronger has absolutely incredible arm work, she is definitely the clear winner for arm work in a barre workout!

Thanks for asking and DH seems to be doing fine after his heart attack, which was four months ago now if you can believe it?! No more incidents, he is STILL on a waitlist for cardio rehab but even his follow up heart specialists told him the rehab is more for people older and more serious heart events (like open-heart surgery) than he had so not to sweat it too much. He is not wanting to take his diabetes stuff because of the needles, but since he is doing okay I'm not nagging him too much about it. Sometimes I feel like I should, but I don't really know. He is making incrementally better food choices at least. Nothing super healthy, more like his appetite is down, so he doesn't eat much regular food then has really no appetite left for dessert. But his weight has stabilized which I think is good, after he kept losing weight.

TA goop + ta teen meta for cardio

ebianco - yeah I am loving this TA workout, I'll do it 10 times like meta/continuity workouts even though streaming is less LOL. It made me want to pay for streaming! but I've got around 2 years of continuity so I'll plug away on those rather than spend $. I'm sorry your sister needed to go back to the hospital even if it's just to monitor/keep her comfortable. Thank you for the update on your dh - glad he is doing well but sorry the wait for cardio rehab is so long. It's funny I was on a FB thread and I guess someone was Canadian they thought the US had great but super expensive health care - myself and a friend said well yes super expensive if you can get to a dr/provider for the needed treatment. I wish I knew a better system. Glad it's not imperative that your DH get the rehab asap.

Ran on treadmill... DONE!
Squeeze Stronger lower body and abs... DONE!

The run was the one I was kinda dreading... 4 minute run with 1 minute rest, done 5 times! I know I can run it, I just wasn't sure I could! (if that makes sense). I went down to 4.3 mph for the runs, which isn't great at all. There was some hills in this one, up to 10% grade! I ran a few times at 6% for part of the 4 minutes. I did it though! It wasn't hard, I probably could have gone faster, but I am glad I didn't. I am still working up to it. I went 2.64 miles though! It didn't feel like it, but I did. I like that I don't feel beat up during the day, and that my shins aren't sore. also that the rest of my body isn't really sore, and I'm not eating everything in sight. So I like the lower speed because of all that. I am reminding myself that I will get faster, however I like the almost effortlessness of this.

This morning I did squeeze stronger, just the legs and abs. One thing I don't like in these is when you do just the short premix, she goes through this long single deadlift, with a great explanation, then right when she stands up from the first deadlift, you get this awful edit and are thrown into a workout. So my warmup was a single deadlift and then plies! That was hard. My knees hurt. I wrote myself a note to warmup on the premixes.

It was tough though! My abs sure are feeling this Squeeze workout! I love it. She is tough! I am going to do these again! So good.

LB was sick these last 2 days, so we hung out at home. I know she's sick when I reminded her of her horse lesson today and asked her if she was feeling OK enough to go, and she said "I don't know". That's when I knew she was still sick. We skipped CC yesterday, and violin group. She just laid around, so today we watched a science class and then a bunch of "Dream of Italy" episodes. It's a great series! It's on YouTube, we watched it off their site. We both want to go to Italy now. So I made her do some "school" by learning about Italy.

Ebianco: I don't know about cardio rehab, however I hope he gets in soon! That's awful he has to wait so long. My guess is it's just monitoring his heart as he does things like walking and jogging. I don't know much more than what I've seen on TV though. I'm glad he's doing OK and his weight has stabilized! Do the Doctors think his diabetes has something to do with it? Health issues are so scary! I'm glad he's doing better though! I am also glad your sister is doing well. Sounds like she is getting great care, and is progressing in the right direction. Hopefully her discomfort is temporary and she will have a great survivor story at the end! We will continue to pray for her!

Eventmom: I can't believe that workout was marketed at as "updated" callanetics. That wasn't even CLOSE to the original! It's good for a light day though. Probably after doing all these squeeze workouts! HA! I don't think I have any other ones other than Squeeze Stronger. I seem to recall I didn't get them because someone said they were all the same workout, just broken down into two DVDs. If they are different, I will have to look into them! She is amazing. I remember something about her dropping off the fitness track and focusing on her art, and I think she had a kid or two also. I'd have to look that up. She is incredible!

So I favorited or liked or whatever you do on eBay the Dove workouts because I remembered seeing they were something I wanted in the past. The seller had them for $19 for all 4 of them. So I liked them, and then went looking for old threads and clips. I re-found my love of the workout threads and clips, and the seller sent an offer of $15 for all 4 of them! Of course, I took the offer. I don't know if it was a good thing, however I couldn't pass it up. So I have been reading Dove fitness threads from 2005, watching clips, and trying to see if I will hate them. So far, I think I will like them. Found another set of workouts I didn't know I wanted! I love when that happens. It used to be so many times I would fall in love with workouts and have to get them, but it doesn't happen anymore. So it's nice when it does. Hopefully I like them! They seem to be low weight/high rep, and tough. They were compared to "Great Weighted Workout", which I love, so even though I have more workouts than I can do in 5 years, I am adding another 4.

Looking at old threads has been fun though. Thinking of where I was in 2005 (not married, just met DH that summer, had my house, was a fitness manager for the city, teaching my seniors who are probably mostly all passed away now... had my bunnies, doing massage therapy, geez. How things have changed since those threads were written!). It's been a nice trip down memory lane. Plus seeing old names I haven't seen in a long time. VF was a lot of fun for a while!!!

essentrics barre 40 min premix

woke up just not feeling it, not sick but my sinuses are making me cranky. plus all the back and forth out to the barn.

buzzer - I'm pretty sure Tracey E did 3 dvds - squeeze, squeeze stronger, and squeeze lower body challenge (which is different than the lb section of squeeze stronger but not that much different, I think it might be all standing??) Yeah on the callanetics pure no way was it an updated original so I was disappointed. Sorry LB has been sick I hope she's doing better.

Ran/walk on treadmill in Portugal.. DONE!

I ran/walked a little over 2 miles with the trainer, and 1/2 mile on my cool down. We did 9 intervals of 1 minute walk/1 minute run. I ran with the trainers speed of 4.8mph, and walked faster than he did at 3.3mph. It was a great run! Not as tough as the 4 minute run, I felt really good afterwards. Not good with my speed, however I am comparing my current self to my past self's speed, so I am trying to shove that impulse down and just go with where I am right now. I will get there! And if I don't, I don't. I just want to have fun with it.

Yesterday I took LB to a rifle class. She learned how to handle a rifle, and then they went shooting at the range. It was really good. She did a great job, and remembered a lot that we taught her while she uses her BB gun. She also hit the bullseye directly three times when she shot one of the rifles! She had a great time, and I did too. I think it's a good thing to teach her to respect firearms, as well as actually use them. That way they aren't a curiosity. She still felt a little punky, however I could tell as the day went on that she felt better and better. By the end of the day she was watching a "Tasty" episode where they put a recipe through google translate 20 times into different languages, then translate it back to English and the person cooking has to try to figure out what the recipe is supposed to say and make it. She was belly laughing so hard! I loved it. So I know she's feeling better.

I slept pretty good last night, thanks to those zzzquil pills Ebianco!! Thanks for mentioning them! They work SO well!

Eventmom: I think have one other of the Squeeze workouts... I'll have to look. I'm not sure I need all three, I think I stuck with Squeeze Stronger because it was so good and the others weren't supposed to be as good! I don't know. I have so many workouts, with the Doves on the way too, I probably won't be looking at them right now. I also am looking at my Callanetics lately, and thinking I might add them into my rotation also. I feel like I am starting to gain some momentum on the barre workouts. They aren't as tough as they were a month ago, and I am feeling like I can actually move when I do them. When I started, I felt so chunky and bound up I wasn't getting that much out of them. Now I am starting to move better and feel like I am getting something done!

TA goop + 10 min walk

sometimes having to get back and forth to the barn every 2 hours is not easy.

buzzer - glad you guys are so into gun safety. When I see all the shootings I think did that person ever actually get taught properly about guns, do they think they are toys or it's like video game? Sorry, not to get onto a rant. I kept the original squeeze because it's got a set of great chapters. I think the lb challenge may be all standing which I love having as an option.
