Years ago at the gym. It was a heck of a workout. YOW!

I seem to remember that once I got into a groove I enjoyed it, but it was awkward and hard to get going. It's supposed to be one of the better machines for burning mad calories.

I've been interested in one of those for a long time, but they NEVER have sales!

I've never used one, but the PT I used had one (but wouldn't let me try it at the time).

If you visit their site, there are a couple of videos to watch. One is Mariah Carey 'working out' on hers (she jumps on for a few seconds---in heels--then says she's not even sure how to use it, because someone else bought it for her!).

They have one in my gym. I hopped on and hopped off within 10 minutes. Found it awkward. I am going to try it again now after reading this thread.

They have one at my YMCA but I have NEVER seen anyone on it. I'm sure someone must use it, but it definitely looks challenging.

We have one that we purchased about 10 years ago--it was gym quality that we purchased from someone who won it on American Gladiator's. It is a very intense workout that engages your entire body. You can control the intensity with the resistance. I love it but don't use it as much as my husband because I prefer the treadmill. When I use it, I combine it with circuits of other exercises. We have had no maintenance problems with it. We have it in our bonus room and it barely fit because of the height.

I suspect it is a very intense workout because at the gyms I've been to, it is the piece of equipment least likely to be used.

There is one in my gym too. I find it as intense as the "going up on a down escalator" machine -- whatever its name. Both can get my hr up through the roof in no time.

I disliked it not for its intensity but more because it felt less comfortable than treadmill/elliptical/cycle. It feels less solid. Plus I wasnt sure what the hands were doing. Unlike in an elliptical or rowing machine the arms felt awkward.

But I tried it just once. Perhaps I gave up too soon.

It definitely looks like a machine with a bit of a learning curve. I think at first, it must feel like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time (maybe why it doesn't get much use in the gyms: people don't want to look/feel awkward if they can help it).

I've seen it in several movies (maybe in American Gigolo? Maybe not). And the people using it looked hip and cool, and very fit!
