Hi everyone,

I started my workout week today with lower body. As an alternate to Caroline, I found a Daniel PT Fitness kettlebell style lower body strength (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc9L...4uVpN&index=24) and then also because it was a little shorter, I added on this Heather quickie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4AX...4uVpN&index=25) with warm up and stretch was 56 minutes.

Tomorrow will be upper body then I'll be in the office all afternoon then am hanging with my sister in the evening. It will be a marathon day! We are returning to the office soon a couple of days a week, so I need to take that into consideration when planning my next rotation. It will have to be shorter/easier workouts on the in office days, at least to start.

Eventmom Wow Fitprime Push Pull is a toughie! I really like it though, both versions (they are pretty much the same if I recall, well I guess the original is called From the Ground Up and is co-led by Kimberly but they both have Heidi and the same music).

Eventmom and Buzzer I absolutely love the Fitprimes. Yes to Buzzer's point, they seem like they are easier but can easily be made more intense with heavier weights and it is so easy to modify up on the cardio. Or keep it less intense but still get in a great, well rounded workout. I'm definitely going to add more in my new rotation.

Buzzer I've been enjoying the GD discussion about Caroline lately, but a lot of youtube instructors I'm not interested in, and not interested in streaming at all. Yes it seems like Cathe is coming out with some kind of "STS 2" but who knows when Also I thought Jessica Smith was coming out with a DVD set but now maybe not? Anyway I'm glad there's still SOME discussion on GD...

I see Wendy pop in occasionally to stop a thread, people get pretty touchy about the diet discussion. She should definitely accept help from others though that want to help moderate! Yuck I didn't know there were bots on here but that would only make sense if no "real" new members are able to join. It is so sad thinking about the idea that VF may not be around forever. I love visiting and posting so much!!

Kundalini Kidney and Adrenal practice

ebianco - I'm lucky that I've always had some flexibility to work at home - I have nothing but respect for people that get in their workouts and have to commute. Push - Pull is both Heidi and Kimberly - I guess Heidi had an injury and couldn't do the cardio for the Push Pull version. I can't remember if I ever owned the original. I like the Fitprimes but ALL the EQUIPMENT - a tall box, mostly is what gets me - I don't have one and don't have space even if I wanted one.

Xtrain whole lotta legs... 80 minutes worth... DONE!

This is the workout that when I did it last time, I held back because it was 80 minutes. That was daunting. This time, I didn't hold back at all! I just went for it. I did Cathe's weights for it all. The ball section (there's a standing section, a ball, a floor, and a rear delt section) I put a playground ball under my low back, then did the hamstring curls on the ball like that. I tried to lift my low back off teh ball, but quite honestly all I could do was lift it a bit but be still on the ball. I did my best! That is such a hard exercises. Especially when she does one leg in the air! but, we do know Cathe is a machine, so there's that. I did not put a weight behind my knee for the final set of floor work, it was still tough! The floor section really reminds me of some Firm work though!

LB has a runny nose today, so we are taking the morning off. We have been pushing ourselves so much, I am OK with a morning off!! So we are sitting in her room with the sauna on, and occasionally I put water on the rocks. Her whole room becomes our own "sweat lodge".

Yesterday she did her final project, and she did so well! She used props, and no other kid did that. It made her paper (they have to read it to the class and parents wearing a costume) so interesting, and people totally remembered it! She and I had so many people coming up and complimenting her. I am very proud of her. We had talked about making it interesting instead of just standing up there, reading a long paper wearing a costume. It was definitely interesting!

We had violin practice, plus a group violin class to go to. After that, the girls from her class got together at one of the houses, so I took LB there to play. It was a long day and we were exhausted. I'm glad I made it through legs this morning, because I was so tired yesterday I didn't think I'd do it!!

Ebianco: I know there have been a few threads of people asking Wendy to show up, and she doesn't. There have been a few threads that have been locked, but it's like she randomly shows up to do that then disappears. I would love it if she would get help! I would love to see VF get new members. I would love to see the discussions go on for pages again! I miss VF. I am so glad I am in this check in though, it keeps me going! I worry about the future of VF for sure. I really wish she would let people help!

I have been watching the STS2 threads. I am interested, but not ready to pre-sale though. I love STS, however I want to see if it will be like an easier STS, or the same, or what. I am currently not on an STS kick, so will I use it? I am going to watch that one for sure though!

She has "fit split" on sale right now, and with the "bundle" discount it comes to about $40. I am watching it, but not sure I want to get it. I am reading reviews and thinking that it might not be for me. I have other Cathe's I have to do still. It is a good price... I would have to get Turbo Barre to get the $50 free shipping, so I am waiting to see if anything comes on "Deal of the day" that I can use.

Sorry you have to start going in to work. I was kinda hoping that most companies would see how nice it was to have people work from home, people don't have to commute, and they're more productive with less intrusions. I guess that just doesn't work like that

Eventmom: it's been so windy here, I hate it! I can deal with any other type of weather better than the wind. We are getting snow flurries, luckily not the blizzard Montana and South Dakota are getting. although sometimes that would be nice, we would stay at home because we have to then!!

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I did Caroline upper body (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYR0...4uVpN&index=26) and I don't remember if I've done this one before, I don't think so, but the time really flew by!! The supersets just go really fast. I upped my chest fly/press weight to 20# from 17.5# (I have adjustable bells) and felt a good burnout. There was just a lot of shoulders so I subbed in abs instead for one superset and that was great. With warm up, brief cardio and stretch it was a 59 minute workout.

The rest of the day was sooooo busy with work at home in the morning, meetings, driving to HQ for an in person event, then hung out with my sister in the evening and didn't get home until very late, then didn't' sleep well and I had to wake up early to take Lucy into the specialist, so all in all I was exhausted today. I just could not get up to work out before the appointment and still didn't feel like it after so I did a quick 15 minute yoga while I waited for lunch to cook (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYbFGbLPlb0) and it felt really good so I'm going with that today, even 15 minutes is something.

The orthopedic said that Lucy does have a luxating patella in both her back knees, it would have been there her whole life but probably the fall twisted and inflamed the muscles around the one knee making it seem like a new problem. She said based on her not seeing to be bothered and an improvement the last month while I've had her separated, that she shouldn't need to have surgery unless she gets worse. She said if she gets worse, it isn't really the patella but a torn ACL and that's why the dogs need surgery. She said a lot of times small dogs aren't bothered by the luxating patella at all and that is a consideration for surgery (if they're not bothered, don't do surgery). She said I should slowly start to reincorporate her into the rest of the house, stairs, walks, etc. So I'm happy with that!!

Eventmom That's interesting about Heidi not doing the cardio in Push Pull because of an injury! I liked Kimberly in it too. You are right about all the equipment - LOL!!

Eventmom and Buzzer Yes, it's a bummer to go back to work (starting early May). They said one day a week, but then they said two days a week so I'll probably do Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I still feel lucky to have had the last two years of telework, and two days in the week is better than the four days I was doing before the pandemic! But it is a bummer and I dread I'll be really tired and dragging until I get used to the new routine. Just coming in one day a week the last couple of weeks has made me tired all week and weekend so it worries me. I plan to still keep my exercise in the early morning before commuting, but I'll have to dial it back from 60-ish minutes to maybe 30 to start, then work up to 45 hopefully. I am hoping my commute will be too bad, the drive itself hasn't been bad based on my recent experience, although I'm not always commuting during rush hour.

Buzzer I would love to see VF get new members too! I am just so sure there would be a new generation of exercisers that use youtube even if they don't own a single DVD (exercise or otherwise ).

I agree with you about STS 2 and not jumping on the presale. It's mostly because my strength workout itch is totally scratched by Caroline, even if I had a brand new set in my hands today I'd still do Caroline! I'm sure I'll eventually bite though depending on what it looks like. Also I jumped on the boss bands presage, and I like the DVDs but I don't love them.

I got Fit Split I think on VF Roost? And it was definitely cheaper than $40, probably half that or maybe $25, if you want to keep an eye out. I have combined the Push and Pull days a few times to make a total body workout, and really like it for that application. I like that there is a premix for that too (you don't have to put in both DVDs to make it happen). Cathe is really top of the line for her premixes! I think I've also done the low impact workout and liked it too and need to try out the others on the set. I do really like the 30 minute format. I like Turbo Barre too, but I will say for barre I would usually reach for Pure Barre first, or P57 or HSM. But when I'm on a really focused barre rotation, Turbo Barre comes up and I do really like it.

Started Xtrain Hiit... nope.
Low Max, started on the step then did it off the step... DONE!

So after an 80 minute leg day, the next workout has lunges where you touch down toward the front toe, side lunges... all sorts of lunges and squats??? Nope. My legs said "no." So I did about 15 minutes of it, then had to quit. There's no way!! I think it was poor planning for the rotation. So I put in low max. I started on the step, which was fine, but then she starts doing all sorts of whoop-do-doos and I just didn't want to break my ankle. So I took it off the step. It was still fun! I didn't get my heart rate up too high, but it was a good workout. Probably just what I needed at the time.

It ended up being really good though, because I worked on my island project. I dug out a retaining pond and a little 'stream' going to it, then laid down landscaping cloth, and shoveled gravel. Then, we have some river rock that came with the house and I, in 15 years, have not figured out what to do with it. I finally have a use! I dug the rocks up (they're under 15 years of tree sheddings), put them in the wheelbarrow, and took them to the island. LB helped me move the rock to decorate the little stream. It looks OK right now, however in the grand scheme will look nice!! Plus it's functional. When we get crazy rains, it will drain the water for us. So another step almost done in my island project!

Today I am taking the day off from my workouts, which I HATE doing, and will instead plan on doing my island. I am going to finish up the stream, and probably go get some stones to start making either my wall around it, or the circle around the flagpole. My guess is I will work on the flag pole project next. Oh, and some cement to make paths all over the yard. I decided I want a path from the deck to the greenhouse, plus the paths in the island, PLUS I want to make a little patio for our fire pit so it doesn't get so muddy. Right now DH has just flattened out the dirt, and in the winter when the snow melts it's just that kind of mud you sink in to. So hopefully we don't suddenly start getting 80+ degree days so I can work on my yard projects!!

I slept like a champ last night, EIGHT hours!!! That's unheard of. I was so exhausted though. Every now and then my body gives me a good nights sleep, and last night was it. I always worry whether I will even sleep the next night after that though. Nice to sleep!!

Eventmom: I'm not ready for the 80's. I am great in the 60's and low 70's, but anything about 75ish is getting too hot for me. I am a heat wimp for sure!

Ebianco: I smiled so big when I read about Lucy! That's great news!! Hopefully integrating her slowly back into the house is a success! I mean, it isn't good that she has knee issues, however it sounds like it's not unheard of and that it's manageable!

I was thinking about what I'd do if I had to go into an office for 2 days (assuming it takes about 12 hours of your day), and I think I would either just take a brisk walk at lunch those days, or do a quick 30 minute workout in the morning while I still had energy. Sorry they are having you go in so much! It seems so silly since people have shown they can still be productive without a manager hanging over them.

I looked at fit split both on Cathe's site and Total fitness. They are about comparable by the time you add in coupon and shipping on Cathe's site, and 10 off and no shipping on Total Fitness. I am up in the air on whether I neeeeeed them. I am humbled to admit that I really like Cathe!! Not her personally still, but these workouts are amazing. I want to try some of her monthly rotations, however I don't have all the workouts, that's why I am thinking of fit split. It's in most of her recent rotations. I will never own the boss bands, because I HATE bands. They hurt my wrists and I don't feel the work where I'm supposed to! So I won't do any of her most recent rotations. However, some from a few years ago I will try.

I still have ICE which I haven't done! After ICE I decided not to preorder anymore, however now I want to do ICE too. But I still love Xtrain. Oh, and I found Turbo Barre on Ebay for $13, then they sweetened the pot with 20% off, which as you know goes right near my "I will get the workouts for around $10" rule for myself, so I had to get it. I am actually really glad that I found it for so cheap! All the other ones I've been watching are around $20!

So I am now in a Cathe phase. It's kinda fun to research the videos and do something new to me!!

Hi everyone,

I really didn't want to do Dream Body today, in fact I love DB but I am going to put it aside as I transition back to work and get used to my new schedule. In other words I'm going to dial down my workouts just a little bit. I have to figure out my new rotation this weekend! So I ended up going for an outdoor run for 45 minutes then did this brief ab workout with CDorner Fitness which was good (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgxT...ndex=98&t=140s). The exercises weren't that hard but they were slow and controlled which made it harder. Then I finished with an extended stretch (this one, it's kind of become my go-to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpB6...FgH7W&index=46). I follow it the first half and then I kind of freestyle to hit more of the upper body than just the legs. Overall it was a 70 minute workout.

Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe the final Dream Body of my rotation that i skipped today? or who knows!

Eventmom waves!

Buzzer Wow I meant to commend you on your 80 minute leg workout, that is amazing!!!

I really enjoyed my Cathe phase too starting a year or two ago. It's like EVERYTHING she had was new to me!!! So exciting as a vidiot I agree her workouts really shine, they are really well thought out.

Your island project continues to sound really amazing! I'm glad you slept well too!

TA level 2.10 day 2 sort of tried some cardio gave it up.

I woke up around 5am with a migraine took meds so not feeling 100%. Not loving this level of TA may just try to get through it 5 x and move on.

ebianco - such good news about Lucy -- I hope you are feeling relieved, I would be. Hopefully your commute won't be too bad. Given the cost of fuel and the environmental impact of driving I hope that organizations keep as much remote work as makes sense for different jobs. I've looked at several CD workouts through the pandemic she's tough!

buzzer- so yesterday almost 90 degrees today high of 56! I did have a pretty good ride but this is why my closet is a disaster - I have clothes out for negative wind chill to 90 degrees! The island sounds like it will be so nice and HIGH FIVE on 8 HOURS of SLEEP.
