I can't place my finger on it...some new moves I don't like including "breathing through stretching" and some funny "hip kicks" feel awkward and like they have no purpose. Not as many trademark stretches. I guess to me the the episodes don't flow as well. Most of the episodes I've done I've felt they have be OK or "meh". I have not found an episode that I have felt is fantastic and I must do it again very soon.

I feel bad being this critical as I love everything CS. If you are contemplating a purchase, though, I'd buy others before this season.

JMHO.

Interesting about Season 9--one of our other checkin buddies is not crazy about it either!

I enjoy the variations amongst 4, 5, and 6--I think I'd like 7, 8, and 9, too!

Yeah, I know, Beth.

If you don't have 8, I'd definitely purchase 8. So many good episodes with well choreographed trademarks. The toning type episodes are well done, also. I just did 824, which I love as it's a mini full body and utilizes time well.

I have Seasons 4 thru 9, and I like Season 4 for when I want something lighter and just feel-good. It does move more slowly than other seasons, but sometimes that’s exactly what I want. It’s also a good form tutorial. I know Miranda said she’s updating her technique all the time, but most of the form tips still apply.

I’m halfway through Season 9, and I’m loving it! I love the new twists Miranda is incorporating into her moves. I’m especially enjoying the kicking sequences, and lots of the episodes move quickly to raise the heart rate. I think it depends on what you’re interested in… my favorite episodes are those that include plenty of hip/leg work. Season 5 is one of my favorites because it has lots of lower body emphasis.

And I love Miranda’s chatty personality.

Joan I'm glad you're loving it. I'm not...but I do CS mainly for the trademarks. Maybe with her "weight loss" emphasis this is a more toning based season.

I don't mind Miranda's chatter; I enjoy it.

Jackie, yes, I'd say it is. Although she had a couple of stretchy, more relaxing episodes so far, as I recall. I agree that Season 6 is a gem. I went through that one again before I got Season 9.

I keep toying around with getting rid of my Season 4....I hold onto it for some reason.

Joni, I wish you would have asked me before you bought yours!

Thanks so much for all your replies! I think I'm going to go ahead and take a chance with Season 4. You can never have too many CS seasons, right???

And, Beth, thank you for your detailed review

You know, Jackie, I was thinking more about this, and I was wondering if I'd actually like Season 9 for this reason. Although I enjoy the trademark stretches, sometimes I feel like Miranda gets a bit repetitive with them, so I might enjoy "not as many."
