I have not read any Cathe bashing in this thread. I read that people are concerned about Cathe's continued well being. Yes, alot of folks believe that due to her injury(ies) that at some point she will need to show modifications or produce less intense workouts but I don't consider this bashing.

Just because *some* people can't keep doing high impact as they get older, doesn't mean *all* people can't. I would love to meet older folks that can continue the high impact into their elder years. What an inspiration story that would be. The average person does at some point in time have to slow down.

I think all this stuff with Cathe is very interesting and if we look at it in a positive way this whole situation could be a learning experience for everyone involved. First off, I feel like instructors should not offer a presale before they have even planned or filmed the workouts. They had my money for 7 months when I finally decided to cancel the order and get my money back. That is the first thing. As a consumer I will never preorder like that again. The whole thing with the preorder obviously put tremendous pressure on Cathe, and rightly so, she had promised something in a certain time frame that she could not deliver and many people had already paid for.

Also the fact that Cathe is injured and has been since the beginning of November is unfortunate. But I certainly think that her health is the most important thing here. I cannot even fathom her producing four workouts in the next 9 weeks or so after just having knee surgery. I certainly would think that she would want to take a long while to heal and take care of herself. As far as high impact goes, I do high impact myself, it burns alot of calories, but lets face it, you can and do injure yourself doing these kind of workouts. They are fine to do maybe once a week. But there are many many other alternative workouts that are good, tough and lower impact. I think that the bottom line is that you can be in really great shape WITHOUT doing all that jumping (need I say drill-max) that taxes your body maybe too much and leads to injury. Don't get me wrong I LOVE doing these high impact workouts but I want to take care of myself and I don't want to get injured! I think for those of us that work out regularly and do some of these high impact workouts, this is definetly something to think about and really listen closely to our bodies.

Cathe has a unique opportunity to try new things. I would love to see her do just that.

Isn't running high impact? All the road races around here have older people running them. there is an older gentlemen(as in his 60's) near me, preparing to run Boston. I have seen him out all winter most mornings running. He looks like he is strong, in good shape and not injured. In fact, my doctor is a runner, and he is close to 50, and has no plans to stop. He was telling me he wants to do the run up Pikes Peak. I have seen him out running, and he is not shuffling, or walking parts, he is running.

I had friends with knee problems way before me and I just thought they were unlucky. Turns out that the knee thing caught up with me too when I hit 40. I am sure there are people over 50 that are still doing fine but they are probably few and far between. How many old baseball players, basketball players, football players, etc. do you see still playing professionally?

yes there are certainly older people who run run run. BUT if you read up on running and people who run you will find that it leads to ALOT of problems in the knees and feet. I guess alot of those problems could be avoided with wearing proper shoes and running on the proper surface and crosstraining etc. You can get hurt doing anything. BUT the stress that high impact puts on your body can cause injury and I don't think that anyone can disagree with that. I'm just saying that there are other activities that can get you in just as good of shape without all the impact, thus not risking some unnecessary injury and working out smarter.

No doubt, and I swim 4 days a week, so crosstrain in that manner. But I don't have trouble doing Cathe's high impact stuff more than a couple times a week. I have to make sure my shoes don't get worn down too much, but otherwise it does not seem to bother me.

I think some of this is genetic. Some people are more prone to knee issues than others and need to be much more careful.

Also, if Cathe's surgery was a scope, don't you heal fairly quickly from that? People I know who have been scoped come back to regular activity very quickly. It is not as invasive as opening up.

Ahhh, you can always count on a good public spanking whenever Cathe and the word modify shows up in the same thread.

I see absolutely no Cathe bashing in this thread, and hopefully it stays that way!

Kudos, to Cathe for NOT listening to the doctors who told her that they couldn't find a problem. Kudos, to her for taking her health into her own hands and not giving up. I admire the heck out of her for knowing her body well enough to know that there definitely was something wrong that the doctors and the diagnostic tests missed. This should be a lesson for all of us. Doctors do miss things.

Cathe's main concern right now is her recovery and how this injury will impact the rest of her life. I wish Cathe nothing but the best on her road to recovery.

This is a good lesson in that. Too often Doctors will even say, well you have to live with this, and you don't. I am glad she was persistant and I am betting she is investigating ways to stay injury free for the future, whether it means less impact, more functional fitness, whatever.

I pre-ordered on Sept. 18 according to the invoice I still have. Didn't Anna Benson take a long time for her DVD presale when she was converting the Fitprime videos to DVD? Filming her Just Right series took a while, and her fallout with Scot the DVD guy? She even offered everyone 2 DVD's for the price of 1. To top it off, except for the Just Right workouts, those other Fitprime workouts were already filmed and it was just a matter of converting them from VHS to DVD.

I can't remember exactly how long everyone had to wait, but I do remember the numerous freebies that I received! Not only did I receive two of each DVD that was made, I received other DVDs as well. I actually thought the freebies was too much.

The worst preorder for me and that has left a really bitter taste in my mouth due to the way it was handled was the BodyBar preorder. Sherry's reply to my email was one sentence in the heading of the email I thought this was the tackiest way that anyone could have answered an email regarding the preorder issue. It took months for us to receive our DVDs, and the majority of the time, it was silence on their end.
