what size for nikes?

I am planning to order new sneakers from a catalog (activa) and was thinking of switching to nikes. I was told from one company that nike's usually run at least half a size to a full size smaler than other shoes. Has anyone heard of that? I usually wear a 5.5 in reeboks, would ordering a 5.5 in nikes be too small??

Yes, if I were you, I'd order a size 6 (maybe even a 6.5?). Every Nike I've ever bought for myself, or my husband, or my kids, needed to be a larger size than our "usual". They consistently run smaller than other brands.

Ditto on Nikes running small. I wear a Nike 9 1/2 and an 8 1/2 in Easy Spirit.
I am NOT comic relief for male fishermen. I AM strong. I CAN dip net. I CAN reel in king salmon.

Absolutely - just bought a pair and I sure wish I'd gone up a size.

Thanks to all who replied, to be safe I ordered both a 5.5 and a 6 (5.5 is my usual size) and sure enough, I needed the 6, which fit perfectly!! Thanks for the advice on going up in size. - fonda
