External DVD Player?

Hi ladies... I am having trouble finding a good place at my new home to workout. I used to have an office in my old house, that's where I used to workout with my MAC, that has a dvd player.

Now I don't have my "me" space in this house. there is a fully finished basement with a TV and dvd player... but I don't know... I don't feel like working out there.... anyways, LONG story short, I have a laptop with no dvd player. Does any one use an external usb dvd player that you hook into your laptop? does it work well? what brand is it? I like working out in the kitchen/living space.

Thanks for your input!

I bought this one for my son who has a newer laptop with no DVD/CD drive. We wanted a DVD/CD rewriter with Bluray capability so we ended up with a pricier model. That said, we've been very happy with it.

There is a less expensive version but no Bluray:

I recommend a case to go with it. I purchased this one:

I got a Buffalo Technologies USB DVD+RW when my laptop's CD drive started to get stuck a lot. I'm happy with it.

I got the older version in 2013, but here is the link to the up to date one. So far, every time I need it, I dust it off & it still works just fine.

If you scroll down to about mid page, they have a comparison chart of similar players and as always, the Amazon reviews.

Good luck

My mom and I bought one of these in March last year and one in November of last year since neither one of us now has a DVD drive in our respective Mac & PC laptops.

I use mine about once a month at month probably. However, my mom uses hers almost every day, sometimes hours and hours a day loading in (ripping) books on tape from the library (she's a bit of a digital hoarder). It feels like kind of a flimsy DVD player (especially the plastic part that comes out that you put the dvd on) so I'm shocked it still works like a champ for her.
