Kate… that’s quite a workout!!! I would probably need a whole week off -not just a day.

Cataddict…. I hear you about the back issues. My husband has been doing some work around the house. And a few days ago he was walking crooked again. He’s like maybe I slept wrong. I said remember you were fixing the dryer. I really feel like he needs to get a second opinion and see another specialist. It’s too often this is happening.

Peloton workouts today included core plus upper body. One of the classes was a crazy, confusing pace. EMOMs which is fine but she kept changing which two exercises you were alternating so it took me a few seconds to catch up. Not my favorite. I then did a 20 minute power walk on the treadmill. I increased my speed to the fastest so far since using it. Just for short spurts. It was my quickest mile to date.

Happy Saturday, Watulans!

Yesterday I did Cathe Live #197. It was a bit repetitive as the exercises were repeated 3 times before moving on to the next grouping, but it moved fast. The stability ball was used for hamstring/glute exercises and I liked this segment once I got used to how to do them. Funny story---Olly was on the window perch in the workout room and when I accidentally dropped the ball on my head (didn't hurt, just felt stupid!) he got off the perch, stood at the door and looked at me wide-eyed, then took off down the stairs! I think the ball scared him and I didn't look like I knew what I was doing with it, lol.

I forgot to mention that when I did one of the Cathe Lives recently (IIRC it was #177---the same one as the CSW (crazy smiling woman), I kept looking at one participant since she looked familiar. It finally dawned on me that it was Jenn who later has appeared in the DVDs. Her hair was blonde then but she still had that great smile. I don't mean the Jenn who is front and center on the very latest Lives, I'm talking about the other Jenn who now has dark hair.

Mickey12, I totally get it about the music. When I find a workout that has music that clicks for me, it makes it so much better! I'm not super particular, but do get tired of the same music used repeatedly which is why I get tired of "no talk" workouts since the songs are more noticeable. I don't like fake lyrics either! Hah! Guess I'm more particular than I think!

Chele, I hope your DH listens to you and gets a second opinion if he is having periodic back issues! There may be something that could be corrected. Unfortunately my issues are due to genetics, but at least I know and can act accordingly. I get what you mean about the Peleton workout and switching exercises too quickly. It reminds me of Amy Bento cuing as she is doing the move and it could be tough to follow without practice.

bee, didn't make it to the post office yesterday as I planned. I'm also mailing a package of sports bras to a recycling group and didn't get that together. The heat is slowing me down so much, at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

FN1/SHW, still have plenty of Kellys available for the taking!

Waves to all!

Hi everyone!

Glad to see that everyone is doing good.

I'm at the end of my first week of vacation. I still have 2 more to go. We're not doing anything special. But just lazing around the house is nice! I have a lot a reading to keep me busy!

I've decided to try a rotation of Caroline's EPIC Heat but just the splits workouts, no Hiit or Total body. I've already done 1-3. The UB was shoulders only (which seemed a bit strange to start a program with shoulders only as UB work for the week). I added her 10 minutes UB workout just to work a little bit of everything. There were 2 leg workouts so I tried to select my weights wisely so I was able to walk the days after! I think I did OK. It's the first time I'm following a "rotation" (and even then I'm not doing it as planed) so I'm curious ro see now it will go. The demands on my body will be different than when I do my own thing.

I'm really curious about the Caroline/Cathe discussion.

We've been having really hot weather in the last weeks. I had a heat pump (I think it's the correct term) and I'm so happy to have air-conditionning ! Cool nights and a cool kitchen.

Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone!

Well, I survived a week of PD and getting back into the routine of work. It was a long week, but I knew it would be. PD again Monday and Tuesday, kids come Wednesday. So full throttle!

Trying to catch up on posts but will probably miss something. Sorry!

Cataddict thanks for your generous offer of your KCM dvds. I counted 36 in my collection. I thought about asking for the ones I don't have, but then thought that there's probably a reason I don't have them. HA! I've donated some dvds to the library, so that might be an option. Hopefully Bee and Kittybug will help you out and take some of them.

ChelePA glad no one else in the family got covid, especially the baby. Love all the sweet pictures! They've made me smile! I've needed them after a long hard week back at work.

KateTT what a job! I know it feels good to have it all done, but WOW, that was alot of work! Agree that you couldn't have done it if you didn't work out as much as you do. Sure makes life "easier" staying mobile and active. Can you imagine trying to do all of that work if you didn't work out regularly?

Bee there's something addictive about Caroline. Or at least for me. The Cathe/Caroline conversation is interesting, and not surprising that so many Catheletes are doing Caroline's workouts. I have wondered if Cathe (or other trainers) view, or even do, each others workouts to see how the market is trending. It is a business, so I'm sure their workouts are influenced by what people want and are doing.

Kim Christi is just so darn fun. She loves what she does and that is infectious. I often smile during her workouts too. Music makes a HUGE difference in the fun factor.

Kittybug I'm slowly but surely coming along with my barre workouts. No noticable changes yet, but it's still early. Like, just a couple of weeks. I have to keep reminding myself to squeeze, pull, "thick air" tucked tail, etc. since I'm using lighter weights to make the moves effective and to do them correctly. That's alot to remember! HA! Do you wear grippy socks or shoes when doing your barre workouts? Curious because I see different trainers doing different things. Some with grippy socks, some barefoot, some with shoes on. Guess it's just a matter of PP.

Horusosiris you definitely need to keep an eye on your son throwing everything away. He's a young male, so may not appreciate some of the things you're keeping, but might when he's older. That's the hard balance - what to get rid of and what to keep. Hope things are continuing to go well with the transition.

VVFer any walks or meet up groups recently?

Nathalie yay for your Staycay! Sometimes doing nothing is the best, most relaxing thing you can do. Caroline was the first major rotation I followed too. There were times of major rotation fatigue, but I'm glad I stuck it out and finished. Such a feeling of accomplishment - doing something I never thought I would or could do.

Sorry if I missed anyone! Hugs and waves to all!

Of course, I had to go check it out and I recognised her. I remember from Cathe's recent DVDs. Good for you to notice her. I think she's a trainer and that she has a Youtube channel.
I didn't see too much of the CSW. Maybe they tried not to put her too much in the clip!

Workouts:

last Saturday - CL #403 Total Body Compound Core (good metabolic; HR up)

Monday: Squeeze (L's from....HA!)

Tuesday: moved boxes and cleaned at one of my schools; back was tired and sore so I did JSmith TBB cardio flow and core stretch. Felt good after moving boxes and cleaning and just being tired.

Wednesday: SB Flat Belly Barre Classic Barre and Total Body Barre. Not as hard as BarreAmped but felt good. Great stretches. She interacts with background exercisers, which reminds me of those PopSugar workouts on YT.

Thursday: Unpack Max at one of my campuses; CL #406 Core-Tensive Strength And Conditioning (good; perfect after a long week back to work and unpacking today)

Friday: Squeeze Stronger (who does weighted deadlifts as the warmup??? Especially fast ones?? YIKES! But this is a GREAT workout that moves FAST!! High reps; Loved variations & new/different moves; LOTS of camera angle changes; wanted to say “keep the camera still”; guess it was to be artsy; sometimes I just had to look away because it was distracting and I'm not used to the workout; definitely harder than Squeeze; maybe harder than Fire - it's up there so far in difficulty; used FIRM sculpting stick, which I haven't used in ages; it got heavy; like all the premix options) + JSmith Feel Good Fusion Flow Cardio (felt really good after SS; nice, flowy movements; liked the yoga stretches at the end; liked her message of working out should make you feel good; do something you like, etc.)

Today: CDorner Step Aerobics Intervals With Cardio Kickboxing Mash-Up Workout (GREAT! Only 1-2 shout-outs so that was nice! Appreciated/identified with her comment of "listen to your body and not your mind. You might have been able to jump or do something 10 years ago but may not be able to now." Think we're all there...) + Michelle Briehler 20 MIN Cardio Kickboxing Workout At Home No Equipment Sweat & Burn (good add-on)

I went to an estate sale this weekend and picked up a Spri 24 lb weighted bar and 15 pound kettlebell. I thought I could use the weighted bar in place of a barbell. And the extra KB will come in handy if I do a workout that needs 2 KBs. Wonder how that will feel since they aren't the same brand or shape. Guess I'll find out! Hubby and I used to do alot of estate sale shopping and I've found some great deals on weights, Crescent Moon yoga mats, resistance bands, etc. We've found some really nice art pieces, rugs, and furniture as well. It's really fun to go look at the houses and find treasures.

Wow, you all have been busy! Well, except lavna (just kidding ).

Kate, it seems like you've gotten a lot of work done around the house -- that must feel great! Bet it's nice to see your brother since I'm guessing you probably don't get together very often with him so far away. Hope you had a great weekend!

Chele, great news on only your brother getting covid! A friend told me this morning that her husband had it sometime in the last year and she still slept in the same bed with him and never got it! They were both vaxed and boosted. Strange how it travels (or not).

cataddict, no worries on not getting to the post office!! No rush at all. As manleym mentioned, maybe the library would be a good place to donate? Funny story about Olly and the ball -- poor guy! One of our dogs is so afraid of the stability ball -- doesn't matter how far away she is -- if she sees anyone going near it, she exits immediately.

manleym, phew -- I got tired reading your description of all the work stuff. Hope everything goes smoothly when the kids come back Wednesday (seems so early!). Cool finds at the estate sale! We're always on the lookout for good cast iron pans whenever we go to those sorts of things (or antique shops).

lavna, sometimes staycations are the best, aren't they?! I'm guessing when your read for pleasure it's in french?

Well.... I have finally had my fill of Caroline for a bit. I need some sort of break. Not quite sure what to do. I want a set rotation, so I may check out Cathe's monthly rotations, but.... I also want to keep my workouts on the shorter side, so may end up doing shorter premixes. I'm really enjoying keeping strength work separate from cardio (except given the spiked heart rate that heavy weights seems to give me), so I'll be looking for that. Seems like so much of her live workouts are combined cardio and weights, so I'm not sure I'll even look there.

Oh, today's workout was day 5 of Caroline's kickass kettlebell. It was very rough for me. I've changed up my eating habits a bunch, and eating less, so maybe I just wasn't "fueled" enough. And, maybe I was just Caroline-fatigued.

Work has been a little crazy, but still fun. I'm submitting some funding proposals this week and on Friday what was two proposals became four proposals this morning. Needless to say, there's been some weekend work and will be a bit more. All good.

Our very cautious toastmasters group finally met in person this morning for the first time since lockdown. I had figured people would be masked, but they weren't. Hopefully none of us get sick! I was so excited to see everyone in person! Before I left the house my husband said I was like a teenager going on a first date.

Waves to Vintage, Horusosiris, Linda, and Kim -- Kim you must be so excited about your vacation week! Have a great time!!

Ugh! I wrote a post then promptly lost it. D'OH!

And speaking of D'OH I am confusing myself with the numbers of the Cathe Lives that I am doing. The "repetitive" CL was #41 Legs with weights and stability ball. It had 3 sets of each exercise and it got a bit old at set 3. I also did #197 which is Cardio Kickboxing and Cardio Barre. This one was a bit different, but the "cardio barre" was essentially the same cardio exercises that are used in other workouts without the barre. I admit I was wondering before I started it how the barre would be incorporated into the cardio, and it was mostly as a place to put one's hand or hands. It's okay, I liked it fine.

lavna, good to "see" you. You seem to have been so busy that a stay at home vacation is probably just what you needed! Oh, and I looked at the clip of CL #177 in case I messed up the number and I did see the CSW in it but since the clips are kind of fuzzy and you don't see her for a long time her crazed look isn't so obvious (at least to me).

bee, glad that your work is still good and challenging. Also good that your toastmasters group is back to "in person"---hopefully not prematurely. I read that they are now studying people who didn't get Covid to see why they are "different" since such a large percentage of the US population has had the virus in some form.

manley, so much preparation for the school year! One of our granddaughters went back to school this past Wednesday. She's in Tennessee. I can't imagine going back so soon!

Waves to all!

Hoping to catch up tomorrow. This morning I did a live new wave music cycling class and this evening a 20 minute walk. So humid. Yuck!

Have a great night!
