51 is an odd number, gotta continue, Beth!

Haha you are right Ilde! I made it to 52 today and will definitely do tomorrow since I've been doing a short yoga practice on Tuesday before I have to teach yoga. I think I will either go for 55 or 60.

ETA - today was AM Yoga for Your Week Back Bends; I also filmed a new yoga practice:

I can't remember if it's Pam or Pat (or both!) who has all the "torture" devices for self massage and stuff, but I am really tempted by the Chirp Wheels and curious if anyone here has tried one. My SI joint has flared up again and I wonder if the wheel could be any help. I will do some self adjustment stuff today but every time it does this I find myself googling all over again! I see my chiro next week but will get in earlier if it gets worse. Thanks!

Vannie, I think Pam, Pat, and I all have "torture" devices, LOL! I had never heard of a Chirp Wheel so I looked it up; it looks pretty similar to my yoga wheel. To me, I think that would be too intense for pain. Do you have a foam roller or therapy balls? Those might be more gentle. You also might want to check out some videos for strengthening that area rather than stretching; sometimes we do too much of the latter without realizing that it can contribute to instabilities/pain.

Thanks, Beth. It is similar to a yoga wheel but it has a channel for the spine so there is no pressure on it. I have been thinking about one in general for regular use but with the pain last night it made me wonder if it could help with the SI joints too. I don't like a foam roller for my back and I do use my YTU balls for for my SI joints but just was curious if the wheel might help keep things happy so I don't have flare ups in the first place. To be honest my biggest problem area on my back itself is btwn the shoulder blades. I do some isometrics for trying to adjust the joints and will do Jill's floor massage today. My hamstrings tendon on that side has been hurting terribly the last few days and I may have aggravated the SI joint by doing rehab exercises for the HHT yesterday. Sometimes my pelvis are feels unravelable!! Xrays a year ago showed mild degeneration in both hips and both SI joints so I know that's just part of my life now so looking for things that can help for flare ups. Thanks!

Vannie, have you tried lying in a supported fish pose as shown here?
https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/mo...y-contentment/

I like the first version; sometimes I do it with the block horizontally at the base of my shoulder blades, sometimes with the block vertically between the shoulder blades (which might target the area you mentioned). As shown, you can vary the legs, which could help to address your SI issues. I've seen both Barbara Benagh and Katy Bowman offer versions of this pose to help with hips/SI joint:
