Yes you can do that; I believe that you can also print out postage from PayPal.

I know Beth already answered but yes, I almost always just put the package out in my mailbox as long as it fits.
I print my postage out via paypal since I have a paypal account and it's a bit cheaper this way and you get free tracking I think (even on media mail, which it claims it will charge extra for tracking but never does in the end). This is the paypal link I use to print my USPS tracking labels: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...de_optout=true (Though I've also put stuff out in my mailbox covered in regular stamps too. The mail person always picks it up.) If I'm mailing just a greeting card or letter though I have to be sure to put it leaning up against the left inside wall of the mailbox, NOT leaning against the right side. I guess the way the mail truck pulls up to the mailbox and the side of the street I'm on, the mail person doesn't "see" the envelope if it's leaning on the left side and it often gets overlooked and left in the box. |
