March 2023 Add 'em up Habits & Goals CHallenge ~Join us!

Come join us in setting and achieving goals and developing habits to promote your overall wellness! We are a friendly and welcoming group who love to chat when we have time, but please also feel free to join us if you want to just focus on your goals. No pressure here to address everyone; share as little or as much as you want!

We have been doing this challenge for many years now. While it is not strictly about fitness goals, we agree that our daily habits work together with our fitness goals to make us happier and more balanced, so we combine them in this challenge. Feel free to join us! You can tailor it to your schedule if you need to take a week off for vacation or only count so many days. Whatever works for you!

Premise: Choose your goals for the month. Every time you complete a goal you get a point. Multiply your number of daily goals by the number of days in the month. This is your max total points. If you choose, reward yourself for reaching a certain percentage of your max possible (I use 90% for my personal goal), multiply by your max to get your total goal points. I also give myself extra credit options.

**Take this challenge however you wish. I used to total my points all the time but have fallen away from that and now just track my goals. There really are no rules, your challenge is your own, we're just here for support and to help each other with accountability. We would love to have you join us!

Here!

Cardio is walking at work. I've been switching between shorter strength workouts, either Lift with Cee, Improved Health, or Jessica Smith. Can't make up my mind!

Happy March!

My intangible attitude goal is to start embracing spring and stop thinking about all the years in the past where it really messed with my brain. I can do this! If nothing else I always have baseball to look forward to!

I made my goals for February by 8 pts! Definitely better than I've done the last few months.

Goals are pretty much the same for March except I'm making more of an effort to eat better(less sugar, junk and rich foods). It's kind of hard to get into salads a lot right now with it still being so cold.

I'm starting off pretty achy on Day 1. Yesterday I went out with the dogs and didn't realize how crusted over the snow had become. The dogs could walk on it but I would break through, sometimes just the heel, sometimes not at all. It didn't make for very fun walking and my muscles got pretty tight so I'm working on getting them more relaxed again. Still out of a dvd player. The only ones in town require an adapter since ours is older and our TV is too. I really don't want to get a new TV as well since I just use it for dvd's. So I'm just figuring out options.

I finally found a replacement for my dvd player. Ebay had the exact same model, new in the box amazingly and pretty inexpensive compared to other options. I should get it in about 5 days or so. I had just started getting back into dvd's when the old one died. I'm looking forward to getting back on track again.

Sherry, hope you're getting good walking weather for work!

MT, did you get some answers for your hips? Hope all is well.

Vannie, are you getting some signs of Spring there?

Finally over my cold. This week was my usual walking at work for cardio. Wednesday evening I did Jessica Smith’s 16 Minute Total Body Time Saving Standing Strength Circuit, on You Tube.

Vannie, I hope this spring is more comfortable for you.

Katie, this past week was cold again with rain. But today was a high of 64, so not too bad. Next week’s highs are forecasted in the 70’s, so that will be nice.

Sherry, I am glad you are over your cold. I am the queen of not being able to make up my mind about exercise.

Katie, congrats on making you February goal. I did not make my exercise goals for February, but I did make my big bad goal. It was tough. I need to not be so hard on myself. I am glad you found a new DVD player. I have a DVD/VCR combo that I bought on Black Friday in 2003. I am expecting it to quit working any day now.

Vannie, Baseball season is close! I am looking forward to it. I hope this spring is better for you. I know it is a tough time of year.

I had an MRI on my hip last week. I have a disc protrusion in my back and (I can't remember the adjective my PCP used) osteoarthritis in my hip. I am going to see an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday. I'll give you a full report then.
