Today was a rest day, but we ended up doing a

Dog Walk - 30 minutes

Weather was decent and is supposed to be even nicer tomorrow (upper 60s) before the bottom drops out Wednesday and Thursday - highs in the teens with snow. Yuck!

Super congested with a bit of a sore throat, but no other symptoms, so I'll just wait to see if anything comes of it. We had three staff members test positive over the weekend, so our outbreak has not ended. I was hoping after the lesser activity last week that maybe we were through the worst of it.

Waves to all!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did an add on w/ Caroline Sandry -Pilates for Beginners - Intro Workout. It was relaxing......

Today, so far, has been:

CS 1401 - I decided to subscribe to ETV for 1 Month for $0 - I enjoyed this episode - all standing w/ a little help from a chair for some exercises. It was nothing unusual or special, pretty much a CS episode - but they do work for me....

Lucy Wyndham Read - Boost Your Heart Health Challenge - Workout # 1
LWR - 7 Min Arm Toning Challenge

I decided to try Lucy's Feb challenge - it seems pretty manageable. I added on an arm workout from one of her 7 Min videos.

At some point today I'd like to add on some Pilates and maybe an outdoor walk - it is not going to be warm but it will be warmer and I can really use the fresh air and sunshine - and so can my dog.

Carol - Glad you were able to get out for a walk! So...my DD's PCR test came back negative. Her BF's came back positive. My DD was not very sick at all - she just had a scratchy throat and some congestion - which I wonder now if it might not be allergies - her BF's family has two cats and my DD is allergic to cats....

buffmama - thanks for mentioning that challenge, I will have to look into that channel!

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Good morning!

BP High Energy Pilates A - 30min. Second time around for this workout. UB with light weights, glutes and abs. Very efficient and I still like it!

WAH Steel City Workouts 2 Mile walk with bands - 30min. Very similar, almost identical to the one I did few days ago, except it used looped resistance bands. I'm glad I signed for the annual membership.

On Wednesday we're expecting lots of snow and wouldn't you know? My dh has his long anticipated visit with a specialist that morning and doctors office is not close to us. Ugh. As usual, the Weather Channel is wishy-washy about how much snow and when. They usually present 2 models: European and GFS models. One says 1-3" and the other 2-3 FEET of snow. What?!? As far as I'm concerned, the Weather Channel is completely useless. Sorry if I sound crabby.

I don't have to work today and we're going to run some errands. One of them is to take a dry run to his doctor's office to see where it's at. I like to know in advance where I'm going for important appointments especially during rush hour and possible snow storm. My DH (who is fully retired) had 3 weeks to check out the route but no, he waits for the last minute and when I'm off work!

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm going to try really hard to do the same.

Monday's workout was

Silver & Fit - Advanced Strength Workout with Adita 12/28/21 - 30 minutes

This was a good workout using resistance tubing - some exercises I hadn't done with tubing before. Quick - in, out and done.

Dana - I can't help but chuckle at the Weather Channel forecast for your area. Isn't that the way forecasters always do things? It's either Snowmageddon or nothing.

Donna - Good workouts! A little CS scenery this time of year can't hurt! And glad your DD came back negative. Woohoo!

Hi Everyone,

Fitness-wise yesterday was productive. I did get a dog walk in during the afternoon and I did some Pilates with Caroline Sandry in the evening (Day 5 of the 30 Days to Flat Abs series).

Whenever the temps are reasonable (i'll say in the 30's or above) and it is not raining or snowing I really need to get out to walk. Working from home means too much sitting inside and no sunshine! My dog enjoyed it, too.

Today, so far has been:

CS - 1402
Lucy Wyndham Read (LWR) - 15 Min Indoor Walk
LWR - 7 Min Thigh Workout
LWR - 4 Min cooldown

Dana - I know what you mean about the weather forecasters...I hope you can get to your appointment safely. I also had to laugh about your DH - mine is funny there are just some things he can't/won't do on his own.

Carol - nice workouts!!

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday....

Today's workouts were

Silver & Fit - Intermediate Cardio Workout with Madeleine 1/12/22 - 30 minutes;
Another decent cardio workout from Madeleine.

Jessica Valant Pilates - 10 Minute Workout for Hips
I enjoyed this brief mat workout. All the standard hip exercises.

Looks like we are missing out on the snow, but getting plenty of cold and wind. Boo hiss! It is so dry out here, not to mention that we would all like a Snow Day or two...

Hi Everyone,

Plugging along this week...

Yesterday I did get out for another walk w/ my dog and in the evening I did Jessica Valent's new floor routine for hips and a 10 min Yoga w/ Adriene video.

I enjoyed Jessica's new workout - it was nothing unusual but good for working on hip and glute strength in 10 min. Adriene's was ok - it was a yoga for self care.

Today, so far:

CS 1403 - this was labeled for upper body but was mostly floor work for lower body and abs! I wonder how/why the title them the way they do?

LWR - 10 Min Heart Health Series # 1 (repeat from Monday)
LWR - 7 Min Workout to lose belly fat (cardio/sculpt for abs/core)

Planning another walk today and maybe a little Pilates this evening.

I have a job interview this morning - it is for a position in a department I have always wanted to work in. It would be a promotion. I feel I have a decent chance, unless there is someone from within who is going for it. But we shall see. It is a virtual interview so I have to look good from the waist up! LOL!

Carol - I enjoyed Jessica's routine, too! I was looking at The Girl with the Pilates mat to try out at some point. I think we are missing the snow, too, but who knows??!!

Dana - I hope you get to your appointment safely today.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Hi everyone!

I just woke up from a nap with Oliver sitting on top of me asking for his lunch.

We were up and out of the house by 7am for my DH's 8:30 appt and we made it (17 miles) with 10min to spare - normally a 20-30min drive. We made it safely but the drive was a hair-raising experience. I've lived in Chicago area most of my life and I'm used to snow and driving in the blizzard, but today was something else altogether. White-out conditions, and NONE of the roads along the way were plowed. We didn't even see one plow truck! Coming back, the roads were even worse because the temps dropped and there was ice underneath because it rained yesterday. We only saw 3 plow trucks along the way and usually we are a lot more prepared and on top of the hazardous weather. Looked like no attempt was made to clear the roads.

Anyway, all this left me exhausted and when we got home, I had brunch and took a nap. All is good now. My dh is scheduled for 2 procedures on Monday (due to a lucky cancellation) and we get to make the drive again then but under different conditions. This time it will be at 1pm in clear conditions. That, I can handle.

I may or may not workout later today. I'm leaning towards not. It's still snowing, but at least I don't have to go out again today or tomorrow. Life once again is good!

Waves to all!

Today's workout was

Ellen Barrett - Ballet Conditioning - 30 minutes

I wanted something different and Ellen's streaming is so affordable and easy to subscribe for a month, get your fill and cancel. I wanted something not too difficult and kind of chill after driving home in the snow and cold. Brrr! We have called school for tomorrow. I do have a Zoom meeting at 4 and I emailed some things home to work on if I feel like it, but at least I can get a slow start in the morning.

Y'all - I have a story! I did an Ancestry DNA test a while back and had a couple of fairly close matches that I didn't recognize. I was able to figure out that they were related through my mother's father Carl Gadberry (whom she never knew as her parents divorced in 1931). Yesterday I got my DNA results from 23AndMe. I have a couple of even closer matches there - again a name I don't recognize and one with the same last name as the close match on Ancestry - a predicted first cousin, and first cousin once removed, based on the amount of DNA we share. One of the matches had a note that she was helping her mother try to find her birth parents - that she (mom) was born in Colombia (South America), never knew her parents, etc. Well, she matches on this Gadberry line, and the match is so close, there aren't a lot of explanations for how she is related to me. My grandfather Carl Gadberry worked in Colombia and Venezuela in the oil fields in the early 1950's through 1956, and this woman was born in July of 1955. I am convinced - although I'm a DNA newbie - that she is a half sister of my deceased mom. This woman was conceived and born while my grandfather had a second wife and children in the U.S. - or they may have actually been in Colombia with him. I want someone who knows something about DNA to look at my work before I share it with the daughter and the mom. I'm sure it will distress the only other living child of Carl Gadberry. How could it not?

Dana - So glad you got your husband's doctor's appointment taken care of! You deserve to take it easy today.

Donna - Hope your interview went well!
