How much caffeine do you have and how late in the day?
Do you drink alcohol? How many nights/week?
Are you stressed or anxious?
Both of these can cause you to wake up in the night and other sleep difficulties.
I take magnesium at night every night.
I use a over the counter called Deep Sleep which is valerian and poppy seed extract (can get it at Whole foods) sometimes.
Things that make my sleep worse for sure;
caffeine (I don't have any caffeine except for what is in chocolate or decaffeinated coffee)
too much chocolate
alcohol
stress
But the single most helpful thing for my sleep is meditation. If I back off from meditating regularly, my sleep always suffers. When I get back in to it regularly, it becomes more sound again, though intakes a few days to help. Twenty minutes or more seems to be my sweet spot. I use Tara Brach meditations a lot. She has a podcast and some of her podcasts are talks and some of them are meditations. Love those. And they are free.
